Wow. That's a good tip. I'm usually pretty smooth on the brake, but also pretty sure I "pull" my foot back to release the brake. I'll have to try this later to see if there's a difference.

Awesome tip and video! Coming from karting its like weird to just not let go of brake. Again thanks for the effort you put in!

Suellio, exacto! You are using your leg as a “brake”. Forget the sim for a moment, you are focusing on arresting the movement of the pedal back to zero. Great way of explaining it. Brake the brake.

Really good tip. I typically like to roll my foot off (has been sucessful for me) but def gonna try this.

That's a good tip. It's probably worth drilling a little bit to build the muscle memory of how it feels. I don't just let off suddenly, but it is slightly jerky if I watch the bar. Like it reduces in steps instead of continuously. Obviously when driving you are focused on your direction and the apex. It is only looking back at the replay that I see the brake release can be smoother.

This was my main problem when I transferred from position based brake pedal to load cell brake pedal.

I just have T3pa pedals with the conical brake mod set to short and hard resistance. Using your method feels and works well though sometimes its difficult depending on the car.

Is your left feet in the Air if you Brake or is your heel always on the Baseplate?

This explains why im craving a stiffer brake pedal in sim racing. Been doing this intuitively, but with too soft brakes, at some point you dont even know if the brake is still pushed in or not as you release pressure😂 found myself driving around with 10% brake applied some times

Rest your foot on the pedal like 3% and put that as minimum brake level

Would you prefer a harder brake so only muscle memory is needed or do you like softer brake? I have V3 but modded to be harder. I don’t know if I should go back

Bro, I play on controller and this was mind blowing. 100 it'll improve my braking. It's hard to have the coordination with it, and I realized that instinctively I was more precise using cadenciated braking, pressing and releasing it quickly. This is just like cadence braking kinda, so it should work. Too bad I gotta work till late night today 😔

It's basically easing on brake pedal pressure, allowing the pedal to gradually return to its home position instead of just simply letting it go right away.

Wow at zero percent??? I have it at 25% on my Fanatec V2s but zero perfect is extra sensitive

The brake on depends on aero. High aero cars tend to allow some really jumpy braking, and will definitely require a slow brake off. However, once we’re talking low downforce, it’s such a complicated topic that I don’t think we could possibly take it all in within one session. Front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, soft or stiff suspension, engine braking levels, high or low, weight distribution and behaviour during weight transfer, fuck, this shit doesn’t have an end to it. For every rule there will be an exception. For what you mentioned; a front engined front wheel drive car may often suffer from terrible front ends, with little turning, which can, in some cases, such as a civic si, be helped by lifting quickly from the brakes, while at high revs, from gearing down, start sliding the rear, and pointing the nose inwards, due to heavy engine braking and its weight transfer behaviour. It’s essentially trail braking for you.
