An engineering train derailed at Church Fenton in the early hours of the 4th May 2021, causing disruption to train services running between Leeds and York. Fortunately, no injuries occurred when five wagons from the train derailed, hauled by DB Cargo 66066 'Geoff Spencer'. Here, we see Network Rail staff working to re-rail the offending stock, as well as carrying out the necessary inspections to both the train and track, accompanied by the Railway Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB). We also see Freightliner 66569 arriving at Church Fenton station to aid in the recovery efforts. A cause of the derailment has yet to be determined.
