How did you close up outside hole on the boat, or did you just screw the lid on top?

So dumb to mount it up that high. The engine bracket and other parts of the engine will block the signal to the left of the transducer. No way it's reading bottom on plane.

Thank you for your comment, however couple of points. The manufacturer suggests that the transducer is placed right at the waterline so you can fold it up and out of the water when the boat is not in use and sitting in the slip to prevent marine buildup. Second my boat does not get on plane it is a displacement hull. Meaning it pushes through wakes rather than skipping over them. This design causes the boat to be a little bit slower but incredibly smooth in choppy conditions. Or a cruises around 20 kn and has a max speed of close to 30. I could be wrong about this third point but are you ever reading the bottom when you’re speeding along on plane? Generally don’t you have to kind of slow down to read your bottom depth? As in if you’re ripping along at let’s say 20 to 30 kn are you reading the bottom? You tell me I honestly don’t know.

@@notbman I get what you're saying about the displacement hull. I'm using a NSS Evo3 with a Active Image 3-n-1 transducer. The transducer will hold bottom contact even at 42 mph. It won't do well for marking fish at high speeds, but it does provide an image of underwater structure and depth. When it time to start looking for fish, yes you do need to slow down. Most of today's transducer work best at slower speeds for marking fish. Usually about 12 mph or less.

Isen't the transducer supposed to be on the bottom of the transome not at the waterline?
