From what I know, the most popular Chinese translations in China are done by a guy, Shaohua Lin. This dude got a lot of criticism about his snobbishness, misogyny, and his choices of words and phrases. I think that's why English version is a better version for the lady. I find that Lin's version is hard to read because he likes to use a lot of traditional Chinese idiomatic expressions that look pretty in Chinese sentence structure but not accurate and readable. I also read translation done by a Taiwanese translator, Lai Ming-chu. Her version is considered closer to the original because it keeps a lot of Japanese usages but also at the cost of readability for Chinese readers.
