Hope the market is better next season so you can go at it full force. I'm going to try that waxed dirt next season. We get a lot of freezing and thawing from about mid Dec. and that may keep me in business a bit longer. This winter we have had very little snow but still get that freezing and thawing. I don't think any trapping supplier around here has flaked wax and I may have to flake it myself. Later Stu and all the best.

Its funny how people get super mad about trapping coyotes. Let me ask you this, would you let a coyote eat your dog or a rabbit? No? They are called predators for a reason.
@gfi4495

A coyote won't eat my dog, or rabbit, you know why, because I'm not a mind less fuck and let's my dog sit outside all day -- therefore, the coyotes stay away from my area, and leave MY animals alone. What you said is pure bullshit.

I feel you. I just had a coyote kill seven of my chickens in two weeks, so naturally I'm pretty furious at the local coyote population now. It's time for a cull. So far I've been catching nothing but raccoons (which are also a threat to chickens, so no loss), I have my game cam set up and running, and I've identified about two or three coyote trails running through my land. It's just a matter of time now.

Do you prewash/wash seperately the really muddy ones or just throw them in the washer with the rest. It's a shame I'm not near you- at least I don't think. I'm in SE Missouri- because I'd like to get ahold of the skulls of the beavers and muskrats. I wouldn't mind the teeth and jaws from the rest, either, (since I'm sure the bullet does a number on the cranium).

Coyotes typically bite the throat just behind the jaw and below the ear when attacking adult sheep or goats, with death commonly resulting from suffocation. Blood loss is usually a secondary cause of death. Calves and heavily fleeced sheep are killed by attacking the flanks or hindquarters, causing shock and blood loss. When attacking smaller prey, such as young lambs, the kill is made by biting the skull and spinal regions, causing massive tissue and bone damage. Small or young prey may be completely carried off, leaving only blood as evidence of a kill. Coyotes usually leave the hide and most of the skeleton of larger animals relatively intact, unless food is scarce, in which case they may leave only the largest bones. Scattered bits of wool, skin, and other parts are characteristic where coyotes feed extensively on larger carcasses. From Wikipedia.
