Oman trip part 03
The morning in the desert gave us a lot of peace and beautiful views.
Arriving in the dark, we did not know exactly where we had ended up. In the morning, when I saw the sunlit dunes, I was convinced that we had made the right choice to spend the night here. I didn't feel like leaving the campsite, but we had planned a long drive to the next place we wanted to visit. I got stuck in the sands with the car on the way out of the desert and Miro had to intervene.
We managed to get out, did a short market and took the long way to the "Sugar Dunes". The place is not included in the tours of tourist groups because it is quite far from Muscat (about 6 hours by car). But I really wanted to see him not only in a picture.
Sunset was approaching. We had a 2 hour drive to Al Khaluf and decided to spend the night at a random place along the way that seemed good to us. The problem was that the beach was only accessible by sand. We selflessly drove the car into them and almost instantly got stuck dramatically.
At exactly the fifth minute of my mild desperation , super nice Omanis came to our rescue. I still remember the words of the person from whom we rented the car: "Don't worry, even if you get stuck with the car, strangers will come to help you, everyone does that here, they help each other." And it happened just as he said. The boys did not speak English, they had gone in a different direction, but without hesitation they decided to help us, as if we were first friends. And after a lot of effort, even for them, the car was finally on the asphalt. They didn't ask for anything in return, that's just the way they are. And once again they confirmed my opinion that some of the most hospitable, kind and good people live in these lands. We didn't have flat tires on the car, which turned out to be key when you're driving in this type of sand. We learned it the hard way.
We decided to continue all the way to Al Khaluf. We reached the small fishing town and parked the car on the beach. It was already dark.
I was tired from this long day and couldn't wait to go to bed and not think about sandy roads.
Stay tuned for the sequel, coming soon.
I'm Laura. Have a nice trip! 🙂
