Lucia Micarelli is off the charts attractive. Looking forward to seeing her character finally become a successful songwriter in season 3, and finishing some of Harley's songs. The nice thing about Treme is that like the Wire it is about the 'other America' but thankfully it shows that's not ALL just murder. Still miss John Goodman's character.

I love Lucia Micarelli and love hearing more from her. Thanks for posting. Still, I think it's a shame that they have her singing when she's such a fabulous violinist -- though her singing is getting quite good.

Steve is great but I love Lucia, This city with Aaron Neville was awesome. HBO is about the people. If you surround your self with great talent you will do well. Deadwood, The Wire, Treme, They all take you to these places. I could do without cable if not for these.

@iiianggg The verse has nothing to do with it. The video above starts with them rehearsing the chorus and clearly the chorus is the focal point of the song -- what the viewer is supposed to drawn to. The 2 songs are in a different key, but the chord progression in the After Mardi Gras chorus indisputably matches that of the chord progression in 'Fate'.

@iiianggg What are you talking about? Again, to make my point, borrowing or reinventing other songwriters material happens all the time. I get that. But in an earlier episode the show went ass-over-tit to point out how her very first composition was unusable because of a 3-chord sequence that copied Dylan's 'Don't Think Twice'. The similarity between those 2 songs was much harder to detect than this obvious, blatant forgery of 'Fate'.

@iiianggg You must be joking...you're comparing the a fundamental building block of jazz to the chord progression in 'Fate'? Am I saying that it is the only song to use its chord sequence? No--but it's unique enough to know when being copied. It certainly is more singular than the progression that defines 'Don't Think Twice'...yet using a sequence in 'Twice' was treated as a severe breach of songwriting etiquette. I use 'Fate' primarily because another Dylan song was identified a prior show.

@DrJamesX You seem to know something about pretension... and you realize how many melodies Dylan drew from old folk songs and other sources, right??

@nilradem you missed the point. It's fine to borrow from or reinvent other songwriters' material. Happens all the time. But the show made a ridiculously big commotion about how Annie's first songwriting effort bordered on plagiarizing one Dylan song yet that standard or concern somehow vanishes when the next song she writes is even a bigger rip-off of Dylan composition. THe show poses as if it has some unique insight into artistic creativity yet it fails miserably more times than its right.

This song is emblematic of the pretension that saturates this overrated program. 2 episodes before, the Earle's character and Annie the Dweeb prattle on and on about how one of her compositions sounds in passing like Dylan's Don't Think Twice. But suddenly Earle's keen sense of musical history abandons him when he -- and no one else -- acknowledges that 'After Mardi Gras' directly rips off Dylan's Simple Twist of Fate. Be consistent people!! This show never fails to irritate.
