I'm pleased the Trepanning Tool helps out. I could always make you another of any size.

This looks like a great channel. Pretty sure I've come across it before. I just started a job in a machine shop here in Holland doing mainly one-off large jobs. Milling is all programmed with Hypermill (which I am learning) but the turning department is all programming on the shop floor. We have the turning module in Hypermill so I'm already practicing making the first turning programs. We have two Okumas and a couple of large teach in machines (Geminis, Montfors). The trepanning is amazing, we could easily make such tools ourselves, I think with the large work we run it may be profitable. Will keep it in mind anyway.

Cool video. Nice little machine. I can tell this guy is definitely a pro. I'm not sure what that accent is is, but it's a sobering reminder that it doesn't matter. I'm sure I have a lot more in common with this guy than the divisive media would like me to believe.

Two more questions. - Why is the Walter axial grooving tool inverted? - Why is there so much coolant spewing out from behind the turret, as is apparent at the trepanning operation? Defective seal?

Takisawa TC30? From what I can find online, 15kW spindle motor. Sweet running machine, would also fit quite well into my garage :-)

I sold Takisawas in the early 1980's and they were exceptional turning machines. I believe you could option up to 20kW. For the garage, yeah, you ought to be able to buy one for $10K or less.

I have to ask, when you flipped the part to put the shoulder on.. Why are you doing over 100 thou cuts without coolant... That just sounds like you go through so many tool inserts.

I've seen takisawas but not dianichis still for sale, may speak to reliability.....or just marketing/sales....
@bigbattenberg
4 ай бұрын
I was not aware of Dainichi also, still any Japanese machine is of equal high quality, can't go wrong. Where the problems are is in obsolete controls and above all, service and spare parts availability. The reason that some machine brands are not or rarely seen in some countries is because they were not sold new there. I once found a 'white elephant' very large old drill press by an obscure Japanese brand (have to look it up) here in Holland and I thought 'how did it get here'?

? Are you using the trepanning tool because of hp limitation compared to the tools that will bore out the centre that leave no hub or slug? ⚙️
@garys9694
4 жыл бұрын
My experience says that the trepanning tool is a greater use of horsepower and much more prone for tool wear and breakage.
