Nice little testing kiln! Thanks for the trimming lesson. Great technique on the teapot. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year. I love the kiln, my plan is to test a lot of glazes under different firing schedules.

I enjoy watching and especially jealous of your studio windows view. I’ve been potting as long as you and also have a griffin grip - older model.

I'm always impressed by watching experienced potters trim--you all make it look much easier than it feels to me! I'm new to throwing pots and I'm still figuring out that "sweet spot" when its just dry enough but not too dry. (I'm having to learn via KZitem since the local teaching studio is closed due to COVID.) BTW--Do you ever have problems with the pads of the Giffin Grip digging into the sides of your pots and leaving marks?

The clay is too soft if it leaves marks. You should wait until you can dig your finger nail into the clay but the bit of clay falls away without sticking to the pot or your finger. Thanks for watching, I have some new full tutorial videos coming soon.

I’ve used the level function on my iPhone to level for trimming. If you lay your phone down on the bottom of your piece it shows two circles to line up.

I am alas cell phone free, or may be proud to be so. I never go anywhere so do not need one. I used to do craft fairs and had one then, it was necessary with all the travel. Now it would be a waste since my ipad does most of what a phone would do without the monthly bills. It is a nice function of the phone though. I will check at the hardware store, it seems a half sphere of plastic with a bubble in it would be easy and useful to invent. Stay safe.

The home improvement big box and hardware stores have the bubble levels you mentioned. I bought one to help with leveling my wheel and tables.

@@potterybyjohn I tried my local hardware and they acted like they had never heard of it. I found one online.
