Bloody fuel taps can be so fickle.. i feel your pain brother ..been there . put in repair kits..still leak..strip and reassemble ..presto now it works! ..sometimes just the tiniest thing gives a different result. As always Ian i admire your patience. Peace and love brother 👍🏻☮❤

Thanks for taking the time....i think i've spotted my problem......on a newly bought secondhand Speed-master....the metal spacer has been put on upside down......no recess for the washer...hence a leak from the tank....Cheers

Watched this video 10 times. Ordered the parts. Never tackled something like this before. Just recently had the carbs restored by some old Gepetto, Took the tank off yesterday and just disassembled the petcock. WTF am I thinking??? Stay tuned!

Put some silicone spray on the tap from time to timt. Keeps it easier to turnand keeps the gaskets in shape

Over 150 Bonnevilles all I ever do is push the tap forward on the bike and spray either WD40 or ballistol inside it and it fixes them straight away 🤷

Nice job JC. I reckon there must have been some crap on the turny bit (technical term). I think the wire wool treatment did the trick !! Maybe the thicker O ring put a little pressure on ?

The main fuel tube comes of as easy as the reserve tube filter. I had some shit inside there so you should consider maybe cleaning it sometime.

Yeah I thought they usually came off quite easily but this one is proper jammed on!!! I'll have another look and see if I can persuade it to come off!!!

I ordered a new petcock....and three weeks into having it the darn thing is doing the same thing as the old one. I've tried to clean the old one and put a new o-ring in it, but that hasn't worked to stop the slow drip.

I have the same problem with an 07 Bonneville I just purchased. It was left sitting for 3 or 4 years with a half full tank of gas... so I've been cleaning carbs and the gas tank all week. I didn't get to the very end of this video the first time through...I saw that the new oring didn't fix your problem and I immediately went on line and bought a new OEM petcock. Then later in the day I went back and watched the end and saw that you eventually fixed it, which may have effected my decision to replace mine, I'm not sure. : ) Is that repair still holding up okay?
