A highly requested episode to make and yes, I've been wanting to do this one for a long while anyway.
Rail Disasters is a Train Simulator series simulating and recreating the events of real world train accidents
Episode 15: Stoned at the Controls
On January 4, 1987, Amtrak's Colonial #94 was traveling north from Washington, D.C. towards Boston, collided with a set of Conrail locomotives running lite which had entered the mainline at Gunpowder Interlocking in Chase, MD. Fourteen passengers on the Amtrak train were killed, as well as the Amtrak engineer and lounge car attendant. This was at the time the worst accident in Amtrak's history until 1993. The Conrail locomotive crew failed to stop at the signals before Gunpowder Interlocking and investigators determined that the accident would have been avoided had they done so. Additionally, they tested positive for marijuana use which influenced their performance in a negative way.
NOTE:
-The routes used were the RF&P Subdivision available on the Steam Workshop & Northeast Corridor section from NY to Philly routes. There is no NEC from Washington to Philly at the moment.
-There is a Phase V AEM-7 at the front when the collision occurred. That was cause the Phase III units had issues operating in the simulator so for a front view, I had to use an operable unit.
