I just noticed the purple pinky Morse sewing machine on the upper shelf. I’ll bet it’s a 1956. I have that same exact machine and sew on it nearly every day. Her name is Dorothy after my favorite aunt who left her to me but we call her “The Purkle Monster” because she’s so darn heavy and we can’t decide if she’s purple or pink 😆. No computer, bell or whistles just forward, reverse and a few zigzags. But I wouldn’t trade her for anything. Thanks Jenny for another fun Tuesday Newsday.

I have had an enjoyable experience of sewing with a hand crank sewing machine once. I was amazed how enjoyable it was to sew with it. The machine almost cranks it self due to the handle weight. You will be surprised how much fun it will be.

I bought a hand crank machine quite a few years ago wondering if I was coordinated enough to use it! And yes, it is very easy because you are the “power” and can sew fast, slow or somewhere in between! I have forgotten about it - and it it’s in my living room😁, but I might decide to take it to my guild sewing day where we make July’s for our charity (children at risk)!

Oh my! I love those Vintage Daisies! I can barely wait for the tutorials! I’d ,over to make a quilt with one block wide and maybe 5-6 long - I can’t hang anything outside on my front door because we do not have a porch (bummer,) and anything in the outside of thus door is either faded or just ruined due to weather. So - I’ve been thinking about making some short runners for the inside - the door is metal and I already have a magnetic rod ready for something! These daisies would be wonderful!

My husband and I served a church mission in New Zealand from Oct 2015 until March 2017. I did not take a sewing machine with me because of the weight restrictions we were allowed. When my husband lost a lot of weight and I needed to take in his slacks I found out the Auckland Mission actually had a sewing machine I was able to borrow. you might try contacting the leaders for you mission to see if there is a machine there you can use.

My go to potato salad usually has peppers, carrots, celery, hard boiled eggs, and mayonnaise for dressing, unless I decide to make German potato salad with bacon, etc. For the 4th we decided on the way our daughter in law’s deceased Mom made it as a tribute to her. She used to make egg salad with mayonnaise, then just the potatoes, also with mayonnaise. No veggies. It was delicious! Still prefer veggies in mine, though.

Please, do NOT just put an adapter on the FW and plug it in. Forget the power strip, it is the wrong tool for the job. You will need a transformer. For a FW, a very small one will do. You plug the FW into the transformer, then the transformer into the wall. Having lived in Europe, this is one of the first things I learned...after blowing up my American toaster. Get the transformer over there. Have fun and Good Journey!
