First, always remember that the person who signs your paycheck is always "right". Second, I know a no way to stop a cut tulip from growing. But, test it for yourself.

Hi Leanne, thank you so much for this video :) It's really helpful. I am preparing my own tulip arrangements and my bouquet for my wedding. How many days before the wedding would you suggest i purchase and begin preparing my tulips. Many thanks, Sarah

Well before the wedding you need a "practice run". Buy some tulips, keep them at room temperature. How long does it take them to open to the point that you want for your bouquet. Make the bouquet. How long do the flowers look perfect in the bouquet. Professional florists do "practice runs" often just to make sure that the wedding flowers will be perfect for the walk down the aisle.

That's a great question, Lee! Buying them in bud stage is one way to make sure that tulips are fresh and have a longer vase life. The next step is to process them as Leanne demonstrates in this show. Give them a fresh cut with a knife, and place them in cool water with flower food. Wrapping the stems in paper helps them to stay straight while they hydrate for at least two hours. Keep them in a cool place away from sunlight while they hydrate. Tulips do continue grow so it is okay to cut them shorter at the beginning. Be sure to clean the foliage too so it doesn't dirty the water. Hope all of this helps, and thank you for watching our show! Hope we'll see you again soon and in the meantime, here is a video about gerbera daisy care: kzitem.info/news/bejne/wqGbk6Skm2ugqoo

@@FlowerSchool oh i thought they should be placed in warm water...im confused now !!! Does this apply to the gerbera daisies too ??

Leanne mentions warm water in this show and that's perfect too. Tulips prefer cool weather and the cooler water helps simulate their growing environment. You can always experiment with both and see what happens. With gerbera daisies, the challenge is helping to keep the stems straight so they can hydrate easily, and they do prefer warm water. Leanne uses a rack to support the head of the flower so the stem will be straight and suspended in water. Also she mentions Quick Dip, which helps flowers hydrate even more, and it's available on our website: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3_17&products_id=213 Hope this helps and let us know how your floral experiments go! Thank you for watching our show and we hope to see you again soon!

How to DIY flower food?
@FlowerSchool
7 ай бұрын
That's an interesting question, Angelo! We don't recommend DIY flower food because sometimes those home remedies can harm the flowers. Commercial flower food is readily available, isn't expensive, and is far superior to anything you can make at home. It will extend the life of your flowers and help them be as fresh and beautiful as possible. You can order flower food from a floral wholesaler or find it on-line. We offer it on our website as well: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/products/fresh-flower-food-individual-pack-10-ounce-tub A little goes a long way and it's easy to spoon into buckets or vases. Thank you for stopping by to learn more about tulip care and handling. We are happy to have you join us and hope you will visit us again soon. Sending you best wishes for your week and hope you enjoy flowers as often as possible!

I am working in a shop where I was told to grid the bottom of the tulips with my knife before designing with them to prevent them from growing. I am not sure I agree with that. What do you think?

MsPoppy1967 Correct. I was told that a little slice at the base of the flower head will stop them growing.
