Winchcombe is a Gloucestershire market town with origins from early mediaeval time. Settlers first came here long before that period, 3,000BCE in fact when early man settled on nearby Cleeve Hill. At Belas Knapp can be seen a Neolithic long barrow from that period.
Today Winchcombe is popular with walkers and tourist enjoying visiting the nearby GWR preserved railway. For history buffs there is, within walking distance, Sudeley Castle, burial place of Queen Catherine Parr, widow of Henry VIII.
