Here is another great quick pattern to help fill out your trout box. The more I fish jigged nymphs, the more I love them. Just the fact that they ride hook point up means I'm getting fewer false strikes and losing a lot fewer flies on the river bottom. I fished this pattern quite a bit in 2018/2019 in the Lake Ontario tributaries for the resident trout that live there.

Tungsten Bead Head Black Pheasant Tail Nymph Jig Fly Pattern
Hook: Firehole 516 #10-16 or similar jig hook
Bead: Black nickel slotted tungsten (3.5mm for #10)
Thread: Black 70d or 8/0
Tail: 5-6 black ringneck pheasant tail fibers
Ribbing: Small black UTC wire
Body: 5-6 black ringneck pheasant tail fibers
Collar: Black or dark peacock ice dubbing or peacock herl
Keep a hook in your vise.
