Great piece and fitting for Kyros, one of the best characters to never even appear. Reminds me of Khalul from First Law. Hopefully there's a sequel.

@@Baba-yv6ml The ending you don't revolt was added after the game's release to shut up people who didn't understand the ending of Tyranny. In truth, Tyranny's story is complete when you finish it. Kyros entire power base relied upon being the only person who could command Edicts, at the end of the game you are the Archon of Spires, Edicts are your domain. Everyone can cast from the Sigil of Emotion, but the Archon of Song is the one whos emotion is her domain, she has complete mastery of that domain. Well, Edict are that for you, and kyros has been using your Sigil to conquer the world. Power in the world of Tyranny is based upon Renown, the fact that you exists means the beginning of the end for Kyros. It means people will start to believe Kyros as fallible and her power will start to dwindle. She is surrounded by people who wants her dead, dozens of Archons with insane power kept in line by edicts. And some asshole at the end of the world has just casted an Edict from a distance, something even Kyros cannot do.

i wish they would have focused a little more on the meaning of submitting to kyros. Fealty to the overlord meant the end of the war and unity to world. Would have also loved an ending where the forces of kyros march on and you get the choice to throw yourself of the spire, to end the age of archons and solidify kyros's rule. However the fact that kyros never truly addresses you and just sends you a map with your banner over the tiers was epic as hell as well.
@cracmar03

Tbh submitting to Kyros doesn't really matter. It wasn't even in original endings. Kyros doesn't care for peace, she never did. She WANTS conquest to continue, by all means she sounds like she is Archon of Conquest. When you conquered everything - as fealty ending suggests - there is no more conquest. She is not Archon of Spires - you are. She is conqueror who uses everything available to proceed in conquest. War, loyalty, submission, ancient sources of power like Edicts ... even assassinations. Just think about how she rules. She doesn't. Tunon was majority of time drowned in all paperwork and actual administration for her. Other ruling is tossed to all archons. Meanwhile the Hegemon is somewhere in unspecified place, probably the unmoving moon is her seat of power, as she would want to see all land she wants to conquer. She spent x amount of years, not to develop Hegemony, but just to conquer land after land - what for ? Big empires fail due to size eventually. She isn't said to have dynasty of hers either. The fact that YOU are Archon of Spires - her superweapon which made it easier for her to conquer lands due to sheer fear, and you are able to manipulate and make Edicts at your wish and what's more you can sent Edict regardless of where you are, while Kyros needed someone to read hers in close proximity - is pretty much end for Kyros. Because now people know it's not her weapon, she isn't Archon of this - you are. And Tyranny for archons is based around reputation. People cannot deny your power to be greater then Kyros because of what you did before and by end of game.

@@cracmar03 Well almost everything about kyros is left to one's imagination, but your description does not fit the events of the game in my eyes. With you conquering the tiers the conquest is finished. What is the main problem with that given the original state of the overlords army? Inner conflict of course. She has two very unique factions in her forces who hate each other. How does she resolve the problem? She forces those armies to kill each other. The end result would be one faction, much weaker than what was needed for the conquest, meaning a stable basis for a united government. Unforeseen by her you rise as basically a one man army from this conflict and she sends out her troops to resolve this. But with you submitting to her, with you being the most influential person in the tiers you bring stability to the system and she decides to use that, withdrawing her troops. To me this feels like unity and peace were Kyros's main goal. But as said we don't get a lot of information about her at all, which is kind of nice i guess, let's you develop your own idea (which is needed in a game where you have to choose between submitting or rebelling).
@cracmar03

@@Freund23008 months later reply but still. Kyros is desiring ONLY conquest. She IS the conquest. She doesn't want stability hence she threw even Tunon by end to die in fighting. Tunon. Her right hand. The person that was most loyal to her, and only Archon that cared for stability. She throws him to DIE. Tunon the same one who does tons of work for her, while Kyros is barely managing country. She doesn't want stability. She wants her empire to fall apart, start fighting, as many Archons dying in those fights. Only then she can continue conquest. She uses Archons as tools. Submitting wasn't original ending, and it speaks volumes of what Hegemon wants. She doesn't want peace. Peace doesn't give her work, and like I said - she doesn't rule. She just throws the rule to someone else, while she moves on with conquest further. Even look at story how she obtained some lands. Like it was with Tunon, he woven her laws into his country ones to avoid outright war. And Kyros .. she was pleased. If she wants bloodbath she should be mad. But no. She was pleased with Tunon making her job - the conquest - easier. It was only because she had still helluva more conquering ahead of herself. She threw Ashe and Nerath just because she views that these two will end up killing each other, along with their armies, and she probably will swoop in by end and declare victor a traitor to still have excuse for conquest, especially when she then betrayed Tunon who as only force that stabilizes much of Hegemony by his laws - she removes only stitching Hegemony has from falling apart. That or she knew you are special, a potential threat that can possibly resume conquest by rebelling. She did EVERYTHING so that Hegemony would be weaker and fall apart, simply because Hegemony taking all lands means she is without purpose.

@@cracmar03 can't explain it better than i did in my first answer to you. I completely disagree. What you are describing sounds like an absolute idiot of a villain to me and i did see none of that in the game. She commanded a two faction army that was in disarray, she solved that by letting them fight after the conquest was done. Reducing the risk of rebellion in her kingdom. When the player rose as an unforeseen force she send her armies to deal with that threat as well. You submitting made her revaluate. I don't see a trace of the maniac hungry for conflict that you are describing in these actions. But as said, the game is vague on what kyros is, so you can choose to rebel or submit.

@@Freund2300 You realize that means Kyros is an ARCHON right ? Archon of Conquest. So in that name just like any Archon she needs to fullfill her role. Her role being a CONQUERER. Active conquest is the goal. There is NO active conquest when you conquered everything. She is also as any Archon no longer mortal. For immortal being fixated on conquering ? Why she could conquer world again and again. Each time letting her Empire fall apart, so she would have again conquest ahead of herself. Ask yourself, what do you conquer next, when you conquered everything ? Kyros didn't cared for ruling, at all. Didn't cared for administrating either. And the first chance she gets, she tosses Tunon to death match for no reason. From Empire perspective, there is nothing beneficial in dismantling the Law structure. Especially when you already made Tunon being the only one all other Archons fear + Tunon was loyal as long as he believed Kyros Law is best option, if you don't convince him he still will be loyal to Kyros. You just removed the leash on all your bickering Archons. That deed alone, speaks poorly of Kyros if she plans to keep Hegemony whole. There will be infights between Archons, now that danger of law isn't present. Heck she got rid of her assassin - Bleden Mark was also tossed with Tunon in the Tiers. That is second leash on Archons to not misbehave. Her right and left hands are gone. Even the Spymaster is gone now, given Nerath is also tossed to mortal kombat in Tiers. She is dismantling the Hegemony, because Hegemony is obsticle for endless conquest now. You forget in original, there was no submission. Meaning, submission was never the answer for this story. Not by design of devs. The story is about beggining of an end for both Kyros - as her ultimate wunder waffe Edicts turns out being your domain, not hers - and her Hegemony. Kyros is not archon of spires, you are. She still is actual Archon, but as it's hinted by her behave - of Conquest. She just used your domain to conquer lands, growing in power as Conquest went but now it's reaching it's end, and she knows it. She doesn't want it to end. This is also why she wasn't mad at Tunon for his intial peaceful homeland annexation, as annexing is also form of conquering. She knew Tunon desires peace and order, and he is doing exactly that with his Fatebinders for entirety of Hegemony. He is far from person desiring endless warring in conquest. Tunon alone can easily pacify lands, as was shown with his Verdict on the Bastard City. She gets rid of him, not because he would rebel, as Tunon believed in Hegemony being solution for peace and order in long last after all, but because he stopped fitting her scenarios. Scenarios that demand instability for Hegemony to break into pieces so she would have conquerable slate again in x amount of time.

0:50 "General! Commander! Anyone!" the lone soldier cries out as he scours the battlefield for survivors. He alone seemed to live, but he was desperately hoping that was not the case. He dared not see who was around him, whether it friend or comrade. He must have traveled for hours, as his legs were sore and his body weak. "General! Commander! *ANYONE*!" he yelled once again, his voice echoing through the valley. He felt a gust of wind, he must be nearing the mouth. Ignoring his pain and exhaustion, the soldier rushed to see what awaited him. 1:41 The solider's legs finally gave out when he saw the horror before him. Nailed to a large tree was the decapitated corpse of his great general, a man who even the king called friend. Next to that body was the corpse of the commander, who while not very liked, had the respect of the entire kingdom. Tears welled up in the soldier's eyes as he let out a bloodcurdling scream of agony and anguish. His people were doomed.

Considering archons look more and more unreal and outlandish as their reputation grows, i wonder if Kyros became an entity which doesn’t need a physical body. Also, his psyche definitely got affected too. Just look how bad becoming an archon f upped Nerat. And Nerat isn’t even an archon of something outright vile, he’s the archon of secrets. Kyros could be the archon of evil/Tyranny(lol)/cruelty itself. 🤔
