Wow this brings back memories :) These tracks were all part of a competition to make a song using only Diva. Panta Rhei won if I remember correctly. Rightly so too. I made track 3.

Made my jaw drop as that utter clean tender string (0:24) set in… U-He's are really THE soft synths to go! Sound engine-wise, none of those NI, Rob Papens or whatever can compete with this nearly-analog purity those are capable to generate. I'm soo looking forward to hear the Repro-5!

Im running Diva on Magix Samplitude Pro X Suite on an older AMD Athlon X2 with 4Gbyte Ram - the only other thing going on is three Usb 2.0 Sticks i use for Readyboost. I keep the PC clean which means no Games, no Media downloads and no Non-Audio based programs running in the background. Diva runs great and i hardly never run out of processor power. I spread the Voices over the two Cores and bounce Midi to Audio. I sometimes even run Magix VariVerb or the Lexicon Native Reverb with Diva before bouncing.

I haven't downloaded the newer Update yet which adds the Arpeggiator and the Oberheim & Roland Jp Filter. Diva already is by far the best sounding Virtual Analog Software Synthesizer out there - but the Emulation of the Roland Jp8000 is a dream come true... Makes me wonder why the hell Roland and Yamaha are not working on making Software Synthesizer based on all of their classics. Imagine a Yamaha Fs1r or Vl-1 as VSTi...

What is that main lead synth sound that comes in around 2:04? I'm relatively new to synths but have heard this from vintage. Is it a voice of something well known? I'd like to try to recreate it in another synth (don't have Diva). Is it the Roland Jp8000? Any pointers on how to shape this using other soft synths?
@AutPen38

I love that sound. I usually find something like it when listening to emulations of the CS-80 or the Jupiter 8. It's sort of halfway between something used by Vangelis and Jarre. Definitely has that "late 70s sci-fi film soundtrack" feel to it. Brassy lead sounds with modulation and pitchbend can drag out all kinds of emotions. Nostalgia is powerful.

you're obviously somewhat of a noob? It doesn't matter what DAW you use. Ultimately they are all capable of exactly the same things, some have strengths, but my have weaknesses in other areas. It is all about workflow, and which works best for you. I'm proficient in cubase, logic, reason, live and dabbled in FL. My preferred DAW is ableton live. Spor/feed me uses FL studio. Your logic dictates that he knows nothing about music production? I beg to differ.

Nice demos. However, as these tracks indicate, Diva doesn't really sound convincingly analog (to anyone who has actually used analog synths). This isn't to say that Diva sounds bad. It just sounds like a modern, ultra-clean plugin. A lot of people may even prefer that sound. But I like a bit more grit and weight in my synth sounds.
@isaacrife974

I disagree. I think it sounds pretty damn close. It reminds me a lot of the jupiter 8/juno 60 once you really spend a good amount of time with it.
@DICACIO1
9 жыл бұрын
Hmmm. but are these sounds unprocessed MIXES straight out the box stock sounds, or are they running thru Mastering plugins, EQs and compression?? The mix or Mastered print sounds extremely compressed, killing the transients. Maybe that's where the problem is, if in fact the DEMO is being presented that way. We could simple use a TAPE emulator Vst to saturate the sounds.. that should solve the "too clean" issues. The EQs you use is gonna decide how good or bad everything glues together after compression. IMHO it sounds great for Trance, airy music and that Phil Collins vibe . Damn.. I tried really hard not to hear Phil Collins voice on some of these demos LOL
@isaacrife974
9 жыл бұрын
DICACIO1 it depends, this demo doesn't really cater to vintage synth style patches. There is a free bank on U-he's site that basically recreates most of the patches on the Jp's and juno's. I will firmly say (as an owner of vintage polyphonic VCO synths) that it is pretty spot on even without processing. Of course you need a FAST system to run it in Divine mode. Maybe i'll attempt making a DIVA demo and try to show some of those patches!

+DICACIO1 These songs come from the KVR Audio forums One Synth Challenge (google that). In this challenge, only one synth and no other instrument is allowed (as many instances of that synth as you want, though), and the use of basic FX like EQ, compression, delay and reverb is authorized.

Your processor is obviously too weak or your buffer is too low. Usually a combination of both of those. I can't believe the uploader didn't tell you about that-Oh wait, he's a FL studio user. That makes sense because FL people don't know anything about music production.
