I agree also. This is the first thing I look for the next day after a UConn game for the games I can't watch on Fox Sports or SNY.

WOW! Aaliyah is just incredibly amazing. Butler was never a threat to the Huskies. At any given time they could just pull the switch and completely dominate for a quarter and then go back to easy practice mode. But for St. Johns and others UCONN desperately needs shooters back - Azzi and Caroline raining down threes is just something the team is missing. And in the last 3 minutes with Nika on the bench you could see how chaotic the UCONN defense got, everyone was just running all over the place. Where Aaliyah is just the heart and muscle and soul of the team that cant be stopped by 5 players sometimes, Nika is the brain that keeps the team functioning. Cant wait for Azzi to be back again, those 3 will impact march madness for sure if none gets injured or fouled again.

There is a distinct difference between CD and Geno when it comes to playing Ines Bettencourt. CD doesn't hesitate to put in Ines while with Geno she may just ride the bench the whole game.

It is great to see that the bench can make a team. Aaliyah was on fire! The injured are missed of course,. but never ever say UCONN cannot get it together with the rest of the team. Just proves it takes more than one player to make a team. Love UCONN Woman's Basketball!

UCONN played not only bigger, but much faster. The physical differences between teams like UCONN and other developing teams like Butler really stands out in games like this. Probably the biggest influence UCONN's program has made in D1 women's ball is their standard of playing at a very high intensity. UCONN's intensity wasn't showing as well in the last couple games as UCONN was struggling with player rotations, however they dialed it back up today.. looked more rested and energized from the very start.

Against Marquette they looked tired and slow...without Griffin they were...even though it was more mental than it needed to be. Agree 100% about the intensity...with her bball genes Griffin really knows how to bring it...sooo fast.

Aaliyah is amazing. Aubrey is really fast. Ayanna made some improvement. Defense seemed a bit ragged at points. It was as though the Butler offense was disorganized somehow and that led to UConn players being in odd places too. Our players still getting banged up too much. It would be nice to find some way to limit that.

OMG Butler was getting away with so many illegal screens. Their players looked more like pulling guards on a football teams offensive line.

Incidental context my a@$! The Butler player ran in and pushed Aliyah out of the way. If anyone on UConn did that the refs would have called it a foul! Thanks for posting!

Butler has one 6'3", one 6'1" and the rest is 5'10" or shorter. They couldn't deal with UCONN's size and speed. Good practice for tougher teams. I'm not confident if DeBerry can really help out when they go up against S. Carolina. She should be groomed for that day right now. Boston is much stronger and knows how to push people around.
@lastonestanding3417

Eric, my opinion, DeBerry is not close, not close, to what a UConn player should be or can be. She is robotic, slow, unresponsive - we could go on. Think about what we saw in Edwards in this game moves and effort. DeBerry couldn't guard Edwards let alone Boston. DeBerry is using up a scholarship.

@@erics9213 The kid who has made quite a bit of improvement, in my opinion, is Bettencourt. Her play against Xavier showed a greater understanding of the "Huskie way" Of course, she and Patterson still get lost, but Bettencourt appears to really be working on being a UConn basketball player. Fun to see.

UConn ladies, you are getting roughed up too much & you need to retaliate in a way that doesn't get you suspended. So, prime the pump with a couple of well-placed elbows, get the hot shooter to push or punch you, & then, use any technique that KZitem Female Martial Artist, Kathy Long, teaches. I'm a guy & I use them. Believe me they work. You can put any bully of any size on the floor. Caroline, are you paying attention? You too, Azzi & Paige. Do unto others before they end your season or career. Always, target the top scorer or the hot hand first. Don't just hit them. Get them to hit or push you first, and then, use a Cathy Long technique to drop them. In order to avoid being ejected or suspended, you need them to strike or push first.

If Aaliyah isn't at LEAST a second-team ALL American at season's end the fix is in.
