For decades he was the mastermind behind Audi's successful racing engines. With its diesel, Audi was the first Le Mans winner with a compression-ignition engine. He developed racing engines of all sizes, turbocharged or naturally aspirated, and trimmed them not only for performance, but also for efficiency. Not a single engine for which he is responsible has ever quit service in a race. You'd think he knows what he's talking about and it's worth listening more closely here when an expert talks about the future of the combustion engine; After all, it's enough if laypeople make the decisions in Berlin or Brussels...
