I looked at this but got the Black Mountain Products one. They all seem very similarly designed, mainly different tube specs and joining methods. The one I got is large, suitable for broad shouldered people.Thick bars seem to be the norm with these units. It cost me close to $60 but they dropped price to $50. It is very sturdy! No problems dipping even at close to 270lb. Assembly wasn't as quick because you need to bolt it together but it has no feeling of wobble or unsturdy dipping, and that's worth some hassle to me. I'm 6'1" and it's tall enough for body weight for sure, though hanging plates too low may touch the floor.

I got this thing years ago in a Black Friday package with the dipping belt, tubing, pullup bar, and the gymnast straps. The straps are a game changer for this thing, I don't know if they still sell them but man...especially if you have a small space they are a must buy. Look for that package deal, for anyone looking to buy this, I got it all for about $110, though that was back in 2011. The original pullup bar is decent, too, and I've had a couple. Basic but solid.

Also, FWIW, I started on the equipment at about 320 or 330 lbs, and it did feel solid even then, and it's still great now that I'm at about 200. It has lasted me almost 9 years now, and even my kids play around on it on rainy/snow days. And if anyone is curious, it does seem to carry over to barbell and dumbbell pressing, too.

Great work! For the straps, why did you find them beneficial? I personally just drop to my feet for assistance on doing extra reps but I'm curious if you did any other exercises that assisted you with the straps.

@@GamerBody for body weight flyes, specifically, they are amazing. I also found pushups while hanging adds in an entirely new element especially for strength. I also was able to do a sort of modified Iron Cross, which really hit shoulders and biceps in new ways, and they work great for using a hamstring curl as well. You can also hang them from the pullup bar in a doorway and use them very much like a TRX type of setup. It felt like I was able to work even more parts of my body while using them, sort of hitting every plane of movement, so I was able to do more than just push/pull, but also hit that lateral movement as well.

Nice! My favorite dip-bar station is the Lebert Fitness Equalizers. I am actually decommissioning mine as it won't be in my programming for 2021, but if you want a dip bar station, it is the best of the best. I have the XL being 5'11".

One has your body more upright while the other has you lean forward more to activate more of the chest. I also use mind muscle connection to focus on the interaction of the primary muscle being worked.

Do u think this is a better dip station than the one at the gym? The ones that r tall, and also I’m 5,8 is this a fine size for me?
@GamerBody
5 жыл бұрын
No. I wouldn't say it is better than a gym one, but it is solid for a home dip bar station. It is definitely big enough for you at 5'8". While it is a good product, my favorite is the Lebert Fitness Equalizers as they are the most stable and easy to store. You can see my review here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/zYCsyKmYqHihmX4

I have this as well. But I wanted to use my pull up assistance bands on this for dips. How can I do that?
@GamerBody
6 жыл бұрын
I have not tried that so unfortunately I don't have any great advice for that setup. I suspect you need to evenly distribute the weight, but find the proper tension of the bands to make it so it is not too easy or too hard. Sorry I don'y have more help on this as I never tried it with assistance bands.

@@BobDole-x1x you can set the width yourself, and it is more stable (at least the one I had tested a while back, not sure if updates were made). At your height you should be fine with just the standard size, you won't need the XL I don't think. Note, you will still need to bend you knees though.

Hey mate Sorry to bring up an old video. I am looking for a way to workout the Outer part of my Lats at home (Due to COVID Lockdown in Australia). Do you think it would be possible to attach Handles to each side and do Widegrip Pullups with this Dip Station? Like what you were doing @3.13 seconds, but with Handles attached there to hit more wider Lats. Let me know if you think that could work. Cheers
@GamerBody
2 жыл бұрын
Do you mean the grips that hang down? Know that this exercise, inverted row, primarily works the mid back. For the best lat activation, you want to do an overhead pull (such as pull-up or lat pulldown). I recommend the Crossgrips which are doorway pull-up handles. They are expensive, but one of the best home workout investments I have made: kzitem.info/news/bejne/xWiZyGqrknhnhYY

@@GamerBody Thanks for the reply man. Yeah thats what I meant. I'm staying at my wifes parents place during lockdown, and I don't trust those things that go over the doorframe lol. I just ordered something called "The Basebar" Looks pretty cool, and saw the guy doing L-Sit pullups. I used to be able to do 10 reps of Wide Lat Pullups, but guess we'll see if I can do any of those L-Sit Pullups when it arrives :D Cheers for the reply man
@GamerBody
2 жыл бұрын
Nice I hope it is tall enough. Just note that "wide lat pull-ups" don't target the lats any more than a standard pull-up. If you prefer that method that is fine, but no additional benefit doing them wide vs standard. It might even be worse as it puts you in an awkward setup and reduces rang of motion.

@@GamerBody Interesting mate. I'm 6"0 and saw a review from a guy who was 6"5 and he was able to use it without issue, so I should be fine. Not a fan of the close grip pull-up. I feel my biceps activate too much and they burn out before I feel much in my lats. Hopefully I'll be back in the gym soon and I can go back to using a lat pulldown. But for now I think this BaseBar thing will do

They do have a similar build style. While I haven't used the Amazon Basics version, the one plus side I see is that the bars look thinner so you can have a better grip. Overall quality I can't comment on as I have not used it. If you need to save on money it looks decent to me.
