This video is about how to properly lift things to avoid back pain by using proper body mechanics. In this video I'm going to show you a physical therapist's take on how to safely lift heavy things in a way to avoid back pain and injury. To avoid injury to your muscles, tendons, and ligaments in your back, always bend your knees, rather than your back and avoid twisting when lifting or holding something heavy. Also, try not to work in an awkward position. Overall, it would be ideal if you can use equipment to help to transport heavy objects or have another person help you. Please enjoy these tips and advice I have used with countless older adults over the past 10 plus years as a physical therapist.
