I’m so glad someone finally made a video like this! I hate buying stuff when I don’t know what it’s like, and this really helps the decision making process! I had two things I wanted to mention - 1. Premier Protein has protein powders you can mix into a shake; not just the RTD containers. Their vanilla has been a staple of mine for over a year now. It’s super cheap (I think) and I personally really like the flavor 2. And speaking of flavor, I’ve heard horrific things about the MyProtein flavors SPECIFICALLY in the states. Anything from it just tastes bad to it used to be really good but now tastes like chemicals - it’s made it really hard to want to commit to it. Just figured I’d put that out there But thank you again for making this video!
@feast_good
2 ай бұрын
Appreciate the love, man. Thank you. And ya, Premier Protein does have whey powder, I just haven't tried it yet. Is it good? It seems like it has a lower percentage of protein of calories (80%). I haven't tried a lot of MyProtein flavors, but the one I tried was fine. Someone else in the comments mentioned they tried a bunch of flavors and really enjoyed some of them. ONe was a bit "chemically", but the others seemed decent. Taste is just a really hard thing to review. Everyone is different.
@aidanesquivel3752
2 ай бұрын
@@feast_good of course! It’s got 150 Calories, 30g protein, 1g sugar, and 2g of fat (1g saturated) So with Premiere, the vanilla can vary on versatility (chocolate lends itself better to more niche uses) but just as a shake it’s perfectly fine, especially on a budget. It doesn’t have the same cake-ish taste I would say PEScience vanilla has, it’s almost more of a darker flavor (idk how else to describe it) while still being just sweet enough (I don’t like super sweet proteins all the time). On a scale from 1-Ryse, I would say a 5 or 6. I found it to be best when mixed with some cinnamon and refrigerated for a few hours; it completely smooths out the texture and tastes really close to PEScience snickerdoodle. It’s also lends itself incredibly well to protein smoothies. I’ve used it to recreate Smoothie Kings gladiator recipe and I think it even tastes better. If you’re doing more niche things like the Ninja Creami ice creams or baking stuff, it can be hit or miss. It’s definitely designed for shakes and smoothies, but it can definitely be used for other things if needed. It’s just not optimal in my opinion. But for $25 a tub, ($1.08 an ounce) and for being incredibly commercially available, I’d say it’s worth it, for beginners especially, but maybe not necessary for more intermediate protein consumers But sorry for yapping, hopefully this answers anything you were wondering😂

I feel vindicated! I've been using Gold Standard for years. Granted, I dont just throw my powder in a shaker, I add bananas, raw honey, raw oats, peanut butter and plain yogurt into mine and hit it with the blender, so flavor has never really been a problem for my shakes. The handful of times I've had GS by itself, I've found the rich chocolate flavor was delicious.

I ran ISOPURE for a couple years (because of the added micronutrients), then switched to Dymatize and fell in love sometime in 2020. They frequently go on sale on Amazon which makes it in my opinion the best when it comes to flavors, mixability and protein ratios. However, whenever I am on an aggressive cut I find myself doing 3-4 scoops of whey every day so the cost ends up destroying me if I run it longer than just a few months. On my most recent cut I switched over to COSTCO's Whey. It tastes okay, definitely not the best I have ever tried but the cost per scoop is insanely low. $47 for a massive 5.5lb bag so it's a no brainer cost-wise. My favorite flavor of all time was the ISO 100 Orange Dreamsicle. Holy smokes is it the most delicious protein I ever had. I loved mixing it with oats and berries as a quick pre workout snack. It will always have my heart.
@richardcaraballo1185

Great list overall, but Dymatize Iso-100 should be higher, the only real knock against it is the price point. Used to find it at Sam's club for less than $1 per scoop, now even the 5lb tub is around $1.30. Though i will say the Fruity Pebbles flavor is worth every penny 🤤🤤 I do have a bit of a gripe with the consistency of the list though. Case in point: The Premier protein RTD's were "Rough Reps" mainly due to price point, yet Thorne was put in Protein Paradise despite the knock against it being price point and flavor profile. Curious as to the reasoning behind that. Edit: Forgot to mention Pure Protein really should be at the bottom. I know the plus to it was that it's available at Walmart and such, but Optimum Nutrition and dymatize are also available at Walmart and for roughly the same price. Given that optimum nutrition and dymatize and other better brands are widely available, the availability of pure protein really is irrelevant. The Pure Protein bars though are S Tier as far as value goes, i eat those daily.

This isn't a drawback for some people, but for me, I prefer something without these additives. -There was nothing wrong with the chocolate flavor that I tried. But was it the best chocolate flavor I've ever had? Nah. It was mid. -Plus, it's not the cheapest protein, between $1.58 and $2.28 per serving, which is above the average cost of around $1.34. Most good protein powders are above the average, so I can't knock the price too much, but it's just another thing to consider int terms of being mid.

As others have mentioned, using cost per gram of protein would be better, based on this I have found Myproein to be a good deal when it's on sale (35-50% off is typical). Also splitting out the isolate from the regular whey would be useful given the higher cost of the isolate.

I think cost per gram of protein would be better for a video called "Best Cheap Whey Protein Powders" or something. But a better representation of quality is protein percentage of calories. But yes, MyProtein is a good deal when you can get it on sale (which is very often).

I never understood the protein per gram scoop ratio issue. The more the ratio, the worse the taste. You’re still getting the same amount of protein as others.. assuming it’s not spiked, 25 grams is 25 grams. Regardless of the scoop size

ISO 100 only has a few vendors, Amazon, Target and Walmart ect. easy access to all of them. Why knock them down when the other protein powder that are harder to get didnt get knocked down? Like the ones you have to order directly from their web-site. Very Bias. One of the best protein powders you cant middle tier for no reason besides bias.
@feast_good
2 ай бұрын
Dymatize ISO 100 is a great product, and based on what you prioritize in a protein powder, it might be a bit higher in terms of rankings (2nd tier vs 3rd tier). However, it's definitely not the 1st tier. -You're right, you can buy it at multiple places. However, the issue is that the prices can vary wildly. In my research, I found it priced between $1.67-$3.28 per serving. If you buy the protein at the top end of that range, you're literally buying the most expensive protein powder on the market. However, the issue is that consumers walking the aisle of Target aren't going to whip out their calculators and start figuring out the cost per serving. So one day, they might be getting good value if they find a deal off Amazon, and the next day they might be getting screwed if picking up a bottle at the local store. Consumers want price consistency. (I don't want to downplay this point. So I'll say it again, the wide range in pricing is the main reason it's not in the 1st tier. So in my opinion, it now competes for either 2nd or 3rd tier, and I put it in the 3rd tier because of the next two reasons) -I've tried a few flavors now, and while I do enjoy them, are they the best protein flavors I've ever had? Definitely not. This might just be a "me thing", but I do find their flavors to be too sweet. Taste is subjective, so that might not be a problem for you. They sweeten their protein with both sucralose and stevia, which is likely the issue when it comes to being too sweet. One sweetener is enough. Again, taste is hard to rank for everybody equally. So yes, there is some bias when it comes to this point. -Lastly, their nutrition label is a bit weird. They list their protein per serving to be 25g and then have it as 50% of your daily protein intake. This seems ridiculous because it states that people should only aim for 50 grams of protein per day, which is insanely low. Now, experienced users like yourself might ignore this. But for newbies (which is a big part of my audience), they might assume that all you need is 2 scoops of ISO 100 to get all of your daily protein intake. Obviously not the case.
@MackWarlock
Ай бұрын
@@feast_good This clearly reveals your bias. When purchased from an authorized dealer, the price remains consistent-either at MSRP or discounted. The full retail price is $1.60 per scoop, but it’s often available at a much lower cost during sales. For an isolated protein, this pricing is quite competitive in today’s market. While taste is inherently subjective, many consider this brand to produce the best-tasting protein on the market. They pioneered the milk cereal flavor trend and excel with their Fruity Pebbles variant. The criticisms you've leveled against them could easily apply to any protein powder on the market, further underscoring your bias, which you have now reiterated with certainty.

I've never heard of performix before. "Timed release" is just marketing speak. It looks like it has whey protein isolate and whey protein concentrate.
