Nice review and playing, Arnold. It should be noted that you can get an S2 single cut with bird inlays and no pickguard for similar (or less) money than this guitar. Personally, I'd rather have the more classic look with birds.

Jimbo1268 what is that model called?
@whiskybravo4648
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it’s worth every penny. I bought a single cut before they were gone from the stores. The brass bridge components are reminiscent of its more expensive core line. The guitar feels great to play. It has the capability to coil split, and it has the advantage of using a single coil on the neck pickup and a humbucker on the bridge pickup. The newer models require a lot more switching to do the same job with only single volume and tone pots. I’m glad I bought mine.

I found with the pickups if you level the pole pieces with the strings and lower it a tad bit than factory specifications you get a very chunky/articulate sound.

I own a PRS S2 standard with trem and those same pickups, and I can't find a single build flaw on it. They really take the QC to another level on the PRS american factory. As a matter of fact, first video i watched on this channel was the charvel guitar review, because i was thinking of buying a second guitar for alternate tunings. You just kept pointing out the build flaws on it and I was thinking to myself "damn my prs s2 standard cost about the same as this guitar, and it doesnt have ANY flaw that i can see." Then you uploaded this review, and you confirmed my suspicions. Youre a great reviewer, gonna subscribe.

I'm my opinion PRS S2 Singlecut's are better for metal then a Les Paul. Because the Les Paul's have what is basically an acoustic neck. The shoulders are not cut away which makes it harder to play fast. The string pulls to the side after the nut. The nut is made of antiquated material. The neck heel isn't very good and it has a shorter scale length. Where as PRS has fixed all these problems.

@ArnoldPlaysGuitar
5 жыл бұрын
Sergio Alcón Flores for myself personally, i feel like the tone and the build quality of this one is a better choice. Now if we were to look at the E-II and Standard Singlecut GLOSS - as opposed to the SATIN showcased here and the LTD model - that’s a bit tougher, but i would probably still go with the PRS unless you found a helluva used deal on the E-II.

I had one of these in Frost Green Metallic. The locking tuners broke the strings, the wraparound bridge leaned forward under string tension, and the pickups sounded weak. In addition, the threaded inserts for the bridge studs were not installed cleanly. On the plus side the fret work was good, and the colour was fabulous, but I want to warn people because I have encountered a number of PRS guitars which have quality issues.

resonant due to the light weight. The slab guitars are better at getting in the ideal weight for a resonant mid-strong guitar (about 8 pounds). It gets harder putting a thick maple top on a guitar (which doesn't have the same mid strong resonance as mahogany) and back to keep the weight down. recipe for a resonant guitar * really stiff neck (either hard material or fat neck) * total weight with body about 8 pounds (smaller body to go with the thick neck). * not too much bridge weight (no brass sustain blocks, etc, they'll keep the energy from getting to the body and resonating)
