Thank you for your time again. Love T.W. products, lucky enough to receive them overnight being in southern California. Always enjoy your review style in thoroughness and visual content of products. Seeing the products in hand and on the water in action is important in determining rather to purchase for me! You'll have a lot of fishing to catch up on here soon!! Thanks again

Right on bro! Wish you all the best! I'm from Connecticut so your east coast insight is extremely helpful. You're the reason I got into up sizing my presentations as best I can and throwing swimbaits (I still need more Hudds because I have lots of confidence in them.) Anyways, I hope the spring weather pans out cause this dingy stuff right now stinks. I was hooking up by this time last year, but I guess we just sit and wait.

Nice unboxing! Being a NJ angler myself, I am really excited about those Livetarget Bluegill Swimbaits. Used a Shad one last season for a short time and was impressed. Really dig your videos, I saw in your previous video you were still using some j braid samurai. Im a swimbaiters like you and have been using 40 j braid 8 to 20 seaguar flippin fc leader or 15 abrazx. FG knot living dangerous haha I like the j braid so much Ive been pondering going to either 30 j braid 8 or 40 samurai to get just a little more distance. Basically delaying the straight fc transition. I was just curious to hear your thoughts on j braid 8 vs samurai for swimbaits with say a range of the hudd grass minnow to the 6 inch hudd? Obviously maximum casting distance and stealth are a priority for targeting trophy or pressured fish. Would going to samurai 40 lb give me a little more distance? I feel like 30 lb j braid 8 would be playing with fire on a 6 inch hudd but would be alright with say the hudd gill What is your current braid to leader preference when it comes to tossing swimbaits? Sorry in advance if you already covered this! Ps the livetarget gill gets bit, the 3.5 should be a must own for all bass fisherman, not just swimbaiters... Not sure if you have herring where you're at but if they have a swimbait in that series that matches your hatch they're a great value for the money. I caught a 43 inch musie in Iowa on the 4.5 in h perch and it didn't even need mend it after! Thanks man!

Your living room looks like a bedroom. I'm not sold on Live Target lures, nor a similar company Savage Gear, they kick out so much junk on top of a few great ideas. Though, like you said you're looking for innovative ideas, though I'm not sure how much those companies are pushing the envelope, as opposed to making lures that catch anglers. I've have purchased some great lures, based off your videos.. back years ago, I first learned of Keitechs and Zman Chatterbait then awhile back the Deps Buzzjet. Thanks for putting in the effort to make quality videos.

Awesome video as always man. Was curious about your off the cuff thoughts about the handle length! I could kind of see the answer to my question at one point towards the end, but is the handle "tuckable" in your armpit as you're retrieving the bait? I like to be able to have that leverage point on the hook set
@KeepinItReelFishing
6 жыл бұрын
Yes. I feel it is a useful length for tucking / leverage on hookset. Only my LDC has a longer handle....by about 2 inches. But, for me anyway this Savage (which is also the same in length to the Okuma 'a' series) is just fine.

Hey, long time no see, Carl. Great vid as usual! I might give those Live Target Bait Ball Spinner Rigs a shot, although I have to say I am yet to catch a single fish with their swimbaits. Rod wise, I recently also pulled the trigger on an Edge Rod by Gary Loomis. Nice level of finishing, but somehow feels a tad heavy as compared to its Daiwa counterparts, so the jury is still out on that one. And talking about reasonably priced braids, hey I know you are a Daiwa fan, go and check out the new J-Braid x4, it is so attractively priced is unreal. I just ordered 2 rolls of 300 yards 40lbs Island Blue from eBay and guess how much it was per roll? Get this, $14.49!! Order some and give it a try. Actually, Daiwa already has 12-strand braids these days in Japan, but I have never bought into even 8-strand because its abrasion resistance is next to zero. I once saw a review on KZitem based on some Shimano Super Slick 8 and 2 swipes over a rock even if is a relatively flat surface the line snapped and that was on a 50lbs variant. Ever since I have sworn to stay with 4-strand. Last but not least, the new 2018 Daiwa gear is about to be available. I have decided to go for the new Ryoga. Exciting times ahead. Tightlines!

Wassup Alex! Thanks man...appreciate it. I got the LiveTarget trout swimbaits last year, but kept defaulting to my Hudds when it came down to it. These gills I'm going to make a point to put in some real time with. Wow....Edge rod is serious! The real deal from the legend. I'm aware of the J-Braid x 4....haven't bought any yet. That is a HELL of a deal though....can't beat what you got it for. I had heard about those 12 strand braids, but like you imply more isn't necessarily better. Smoother through the guides and quiet for sure, but not great at cutting through vegetation and such. I'm glad the Ryoga is back....I was wondering when it would be. Looks like a logical evolution, although I much prefer the machined raw aluminum look of the previous gen to the black. Just cosmetics though.
@Rascallucci
6 жыл бұрын
Yea, Edge Rods is a little serious, I went for the cheaper First Strike cos split grip is a must for me. But, I will tell you this, I also have a Zillion 7' Heavy, 12-25lbs, 3/8- 1 1/2oz. The specs are identical to that of the Edge and I can see the Edge's blank is just marginally thicker than the Zillion. Also, the weaved carbon fiber split grips seem heavy. The carbon fiber itself is not heavy, I think is the material they use to mold the handle which is heavy. So, is not a great feeling so far, but we will see as I get to use it more. Have a look at the following clip on PowerPro Super 8 Slick, it looks quite convincing to me. kzitem.info/news/bejne/2YaZsHd-cJOTaII As for the J-Braid x4, here is the link. www.ebay.com/itm/FISHING-LINE-DAIWA-J-BRAID-X4-BRAIDED-LINE-300-YARDS-ISLAND-BLUE-LINE-/182402860747

Just curious as to which swimbait applications you prefer the wide gap trebles (ST-41) to a standard round bend treble. I'm new to the swimbait game, and will be upgrading hardware on a Deps 175 SS and an S-Waver.
@KeepinItReelFishing
6 жыл бұрын
I'm not too picky Ian. In this case, the ST-41's are to go on a Mattlures Floater in place of the stock hook to add a little weight. Those other hooks, coupled to the lead wire is to make it a heavy float. The 2/0 Owner in with the silver/tin finish are to replace the 3/0 KVD triple grips on my Sly Guy Lures 9" trout glide. Those are good hooks, but I actually like to use the smallest hook I feel I can get away with. And, on lures with white bellies I like to use the tin hooks due to their lighter color. For any fish viewing the lure from below they blend in better. Are far as the Deps 175 goes....I love the stock hooks....whatever they are. Sticky-icky sharp.
