I never comment on anything these days, but I need to sign in for this.This film has the most astounding endings I have ever seen ever in any movie, ever, but it is truely rewarding if you have watched previous Shyamalan films especially at the time of the release. When sitting through this towards the end I thought this was a pretty good film, solid entertainment ide say, the scene Kevin talks to the mirror I hear the unbreakable theme, I actually thought to myself, "its a great theme-bit cheap to re-use it from a film thats 15 years old" then the scene in the diner, i hear the news report, I involuntarily start to sweat as the music gets louder my heart starts to race I was slowly figuring out what I was seeing I then see bruce willis and he mentions " mr glass" I was stunned. I actually couldnt control my sweating it was so awesome, no film had ever made me feel that way before I definitely didnt see that coming. Absolute genius film making.

It really was *THIS* theme that got me into loving film scores. I remember sitting in that theater, and realizing I was watching a super hero film, the music swelled, the themes came smashing together in such a poignant and dramatic way, and this theme carried it. David became the Overseer in that bus station. I became enthralled with everything I was seeing and hearing. BEAUTIFUL. "Now that we know who you are, I know who I am. I'm not a mistake! It all makes sense! In a comic, you know how you can tell who the arch-villain's going to be? He's the exact opposite of the hero. And most times they're friends, like you and me. I should have known way back when. You know why, David? Because of the kids. They called me Mr Glass." ~ Elijah Price (I know that it isn't this song that plays in that scene, but that scene encompasses the film for me, and so does this theme)

Unbreakable was a slow-burn masterpiece. Split was a terrifyingly great sequel. Glass was sadly just an average movie. I saw it as potentially being the magnum opus to M. Night Shyamalan's filming career. Upon watching it, and seeing the ending, you feel as though he felt no love for his characters. David drowned in a puddle. Kevin just got shot in the gut. Mr. Glass got his chest punched in by the beast, breaking all his bones in the process. It just felt hollow, and just didn't feel right. It felt more like fanfiction than the real deal. Even people's fan theories on the movie were more enjoyable to watch than the actual product. One theory proposed that when David was fighting the beast in the warehouse, that whenever lightning flashed, it would make one of the personalities pop out. Both men would be fighting in a setting that would be ill suited for them. Lightning would be changing the personalities within Kevin and the rain slowing down David since its his weakness. But no, we just got an average fight that lasted barely for five minutes. So disappointed with the film. 2/10

The David Dunn character reminds me so much of how I viewed my Dad growing up. I thought my Dad was Superman. Nothing ever seemed to phase him, he never seemed like he got hurt or even sick. He was super strong and was always there to protect me, my brother and sister. He’s been shot a few times and still has the fragments in his body. His spine and neck are fused in certain areas and he’s got pins and rods in his shoulders but hardly ever complains. My dad is of course older now but I still view him as Superman and he’s the best grandfather to my 2 year old son and a great husband to my mother, they’ve been married for 30 plus years now.
It was brilliantly executed, with appropriate uses of slowed time to truly make us feel like the moment was memorable... and it was... As an ardent hater of Shyamalan's newer work... this harkens back to the days when he knew how to truly represent the inherent humanity (or lack of) in the work. Mr. Glass was incredible... and so was Bruce Willis. That ending scene really got to me.

I remember seeing Split at the cinema and not realising that it’s in the same universe as Unbreakable., I saw Bruce Willis at the end and heard him mention Mr. Glass, then I realised that Kevin was in the first film, but really young! Awesome movie really threw me! 💕

I, for one, am waiting eagerly for a sequel.. that being said, I find the movie epic on its own.. it is one of the few movies that have made a lasting impression on me.. and will continue to.. I find it to be one of the most underrated movies of the 00's!!!

Definitely the kind of treatment that gives the super-hero tales a whole new dimension. A dimension that cannot be reached with over-CGI-ied action-packed superproductions. I wish Unbreakable, Split, and the upcoming sequel could only be the first movies of a whole saga based on Shyamalan's universe. Or it could become a TV show, something better/darker than "Heroes", which really took a turn for the worse after its first season, imo.

I'm very saddened that all my generation will know about from M. Night is Split and maybe The Visit. Don't get me wrong I really enjoyed split, but they won't know him for masterpieces such as unbreakable, signs, and the sixth sense. Shyamalan is finally returning I think though, with split being very original in terms of it's narrative and with Glass coming out next year I think he has a shot at redemption. Hopefully more younger people will try his early films after that.

Exactly, but these things will come for each generation man :) I was 8 when Unbreakable came out and was hooked on this 6th Sense and Signs as a kid. Made me want to be a film maker just like him. Hadn’t watched it again until my early 20s and the film took on a whole different level of meaning to me.

Don't forget, thanks to Split, Unbreakable is getting some exposure thanks to the internet helping those who hadn't seen it figure out why Bruce Willis appeared. M. Night's legacy might be tarnished by some of his less than stellar films, but the gems he made are still shining to anyone willing to look.

When watching Split at the end, I was like ah crap, “the Horde” is gonna kill loads of innocent people, and there’s not a thing anyone can do about it... then this started playing. When I realised this was connected to Unbreakable, all I thought then was, sh*t... David Dunn’s coming for your ass and there’s nothing the Horde can do about it. It was in that moment I realised M. Night created one of the best origin stories to a super hero ever.

One of the best movies ever. Split wasn't bad, but didn't compare to Unbreakable. As for Glass, was good until the end, felt so rushed and ruined it :( such a shame

watched split having no clue it had anything to do with unbreakable. I heard this song at the end thinking to myself "damn these clowns stole the theme song to unbreakable" then I saw Bruce Willis and I freaked out. unbreakable was one of my favorites when I was younger! I watched it with my girlfriend and my family and they hadn't seen unbreakable and I was freaking out on them telling them "now this is about to get interesting"

Considering what Elijah said about their being two types of villains, the soldier and the archenemy, it might very will be.
@guitou706
6 жыл бұрын
It's very likely ! Considering that Elijah's purpose is to make people aware of their place in this world, he could convince Kevin that he's meant to spread fear & blood among the "unbroken", that he should accept his faith as the Horde, the same way he convinced David Dunn he was meant to protect people even though he didn't want to accept it. Elijah is a very interesting character, not a true villain, but definitely not a good person either.

One of the best low key superhero films ever made. The opening scene with James Newton Howard’s score is just exhilarating.
