I've been unemployed for 3 years now, but the last 2 years I just stopped looking for a job after all the rejections I've faced. Now i decided to go to grad school due to my parents' generosity. But I'm also not doing well in grad school cos i was depressed during the 2 years that i wasn't actively searching. Sucks. I now realize what they say that surviving/ being alive is harder than dying 😂😂

Hi Fighting 101. It's great to meet you. Thank you for sharing a glimpse of your story. I don't know if this will help you at all but I'd like to share something in return. I find it interesting (and slightly terrifying too) how much importance we place on work because of the way our societies are organised. I sometimes imagine what I would do with my life if I didn't need to earn money and there wasn't a social pressure to have a career and be productive and be "useful". The scenarios I come up with are fascinating and a great inspiration for what I'd actually like to do in real life. Perhaps imagining what _ you_ would like to do if money was no object (or the expectation to have a career didn't exist) could be a source of inspiration for you too and provide some direction. I believe that we all have talents and great things we could contribute but they are often buried under all these expectations that are placed on us from early on. I hope that, step by step, you'll connect with your gifts. Hang in there!

If you're feeling burnt out or harassed or just soul crushed at your job for months (or years) - get out sooner than later. Longer the tolerating and settling, the longer the recovery. Being bold and adventurous to raise standards with what is sustainable and acceptable is key. Nevermind "is what it is" - "nobody's perfect" - "can't choose everything" - "work is work" , meaningless phrases compared to a more personally designed life choosing work and routines that suit us best, expand us.

Hi Shirouki, it's great to have you here. I know what this feels like. I was jobless for a few months after graduation and it was a very hard time because I felt so much expectation to have a job and, yet, I couldn't find one. I ended up accepting something far below my qualifications which have me financial stability but impacted my health. It wasn't a good trade-off. So I'd like you to know that you're not the only one struggling after graduation and that having a job is not a confirmation of your worth. Career is an important aspect of your life but sometimes there are more important things in life than work. If you have financial security and you feel like you can't find what you're looking for, take your time to get some awesome experience that will make you stand out - maybe that will be learning a skill or starting something on your own (a blog or a local initiative). It only takes that one job offer to go from being jobless to being employed ;) You've got this!

Something similar happened to me. Where towards the end of my senior year in March 2020, covid hit. Not only that but I was developing serious anxiety issues and medical issues that caused me 24 seven pain. I wasn’t able to come in for my hours and I was constantly calling off/leaving early. Luckily my job was very flexible and understanding of my reasons and kept me as an employee anyways. But I always felt stressed out and guilty about never coming in that I made the decision to quit around a year ago and it’s been really hard not having my own money and having a job. I loveeee being productive so having to sit in my house basically disabled this last year has Been really difficult for me. Been searching videos for help

I lost my job 3/2021. 7 months ago at this time of posting. I have enough savings to last for a few years. I am a 59 year old man. Worked since I was 15. Even though I am not struggling for income it has been a rollercoaster of emotions being out of work. Lots of depression and lots of rejection. I lose track of what day it is. I need to work for my mental health. Lost my purpose. I will be okay but I don’t recommend quitting your job to find yourself. If you can get a leave of absence I would try that first. If not working works for you then resign. A leave of absence will give you the choice to return to work instead of looking for work.

I have been unemployed for 4 months, one of the many people who have been laid off recently. This was after 10 years of straight work. The first 2-3 months were enjoyable but the last month or so I have been pressing as the economy gets worse. However I have been able to accomplish some great things: 1. Worked on some health issues 2. Finished some side projects 3. Launched a podcast 4. Working on starting a freelance business to see if I can do what I did for work as my own business, so I can maybe move out of the USA The challenge right now is the rising cost of everything as inflation rages. I definitely cannot hang on forever like this. I may try and move abroad

Hi Anita ! After watching your video, i realised i'm not the only girl who quits her corporate job without having a plan B. Like you told, i also searched for a job but not whole-heartedly. It's been more than 18 months now. I found everything you said so relatable. And yes, this time (the time alone) has been the most peaceful time of my life while i am healing myself spiritually and focusing on my physical and mental health. I am also learning new things that focus on self-development. The only difference is that i still haven't figured out what to do in my life. But atleast i have not been destructive but constructive. Though the society is quite judgemental as i couldn't ever achieve what they have but the fact is they also don't have what i have - peace of my mind. Lots of love and positivity to you. - Your sister from India
@The_Why_Girl

awww, Namita! It's amazing to read your story. I'm so glad that you're finding peace and healing - how precious that is. As for figuring out what you want to do, it's a process and I'd argue that's not finite. Because what we want to do naturally is constantly changing as we, our circumstances and our priorities change. So take your time, my sister, and take it on a decision-by-decision basis. When something feels right, pursue it, explore it. When it doesn't, turn away from it. And I don't mean to suggest "give up when something gets uncomfortable" - simply stay in tune with your intuition, as much as possible. You've got this 🙌🤗

Hi Sanjeet! Thank you for your comment. I know, it's not always easy and so many of us struggle with being unemployed. For such vastly different reasons too. I have built a mindset that helps me appreciate and celebrate this period of transition but it's hard for me too at times. What often helps at those tougher times is asking "Why?". Why am I finding it difficult? What am I scared of? What am I really struggling with? Tracing the source of fear, sadness or anxiety and looking at it with clarity significantly drops the intensity of the emotion and allows you refocus. Hope this offers a fresh view. It's great to have you here. You're definitely in the right place 💜

Thanks for this video!! I’ve been working/studying(felt like a work) my whole life until i’ve completed 18 yrs old.(working from 16-18yrs old) and then i stopped it all. i’m back studying now but not in that veracity i was back then. Depression caught up to me, and i felt like shit for not being earning my own money in work nor doing anything society would approve. Now i feel i kinda spent lots of time not enjoying my free time, but i actually enjoyed. Rest is underrated, now i’m trying to put the vision that i was born to rest and live a calm and cool 😎 life. It is hard, capitalism makes you worry and not enjoying being still. Perspective is everything and i’m also blessed for having abundant parents and understanding ones. Also i recommend learning about investment so you can be able to multiply any income you have or savings, for you to able to pay for you rest and free time. Don’t fall for any wonderlands and just use the 12/15% you can find everywhere of investments. Thanks guys

@@timmyparas1648 It's a tough situation to sue or not to sue. Sorry for trauma. I had this situation happen to me many times. Hi Joyce, welcome here and thank you for sharing! I don't know how many times you've been unemployed before but this isn't the first time for me. In most cases, quitting my job in the past was a conscious decision and something I wanted to do but there was one time when it was completely out of my control and it happened at the time when I needed and wanted to have a job. It was also the very first time I was unemployed so I didn't have as much experience in handling the situation emotionally. Either way, going through that first period of unemployment was hard and the feeling of blame was constant so I get how you feel. What I would say to my younger self back then (and perhaps something that you might find useful too) is "If you can't find a job anyway, why don't you try using this time for things you enjoy?". I know it's not easy to actually do this, particularly when you need to pay your bills, but what would happen if you started doing one thing that you really enjoyed doing? Often, when you do things for yourself is when you also naturally find motivation, inspiration and focus, which you might need right now. You've got this!

@@The_Why_Girl thank you for your immediate reply.. I have been working for 12 years since I finished high schol but now it's been also a year here without a job due to Covid 19 (pandemic) and I also started a KZitem channel like you but for sound design content (producer). You can also feel free to check my channel from time to time to get quality music that you can use for your videos as a background. The reason I search for your content is that to make sure if I am on the right track bcuz I started to have doubts on my KZitem journey.. I will definitely keep watching your content always.. Cheers and love to you too.

I was graduated at 2019 then I tried hard for a job and after 6 months I got my first job but unfortunately after 4 months of job COVID happened and after that I'm jobless till now..(from March 2020 to till now) I'm trying very hard but can't find any I don't know what's wrong.. now I'm very tired, frustrated and fed up from all this, writing this comment with teary eyes😢😣

Alisha, welcome here and thank you for sharing your story. I know how hard being unemployed might feel. Especially, right after you graduated! I've been there too. One thing I can tell you for sure, is that there isn't anything wrong with you. Getting your first or second job after uni is not so easy - the competition is high and, oftentimes, you simply don't yet have the experience that you might need. Not because of your own fault, but because you've been busy studying and getting experience takes time. The good thing is that you've got LOADS of time ahead of you to get that experience and you will get it. All it takes is that one job offer to change everything. And, you've been offered a job before which means that you are employable and that there will be other employers who will want you. It is very natural to feel frustrated though when you keep receiving rejections or you're not hearing back from recruiters. Have you tried speaking to a career advisor or other graduates about your challenges? It might be good for you to share what you're feeling with others and get some feedback. You're not alone in this.

This is how I survive unemployment. 1. I stopped my periods : Eat no grains, fats or sugar and go raw vegan to stop bleeding cause pads and tampons are expensive. Stopping fertility during unemployment is also smart cause then you won't get pregnant if raped. Unemployed women are vulnerable so rape is possible and pregnancy is not an option. 2. Eat once a day to make food last. Sometimes I only eat small fruit to keep hunger pangs away for a few days. Then have a semi decent meal on third or fourth day, to give your body strength to keep looking for work. 3. Learn self employment, how to make games or websites, learn to make clothes, aqquirre knowledge. 4. Pray and fast before Jesus Christ. Since you can't afford to eat properly you might as well fast before Jesus Christ. "Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting." Mathew 17:21 5. Writting. One of your books could be a success, whenever you can share knowledge through books and Writting stories cause one of them could succeed.

Hi there, it's great to meet you :) I know it might be difficult to fully believe this now when being jobless might feel like it's taking over your life, but your worth isn't dictated by the work you do. There's so much more to every single one of us than simply the jobs we do and careers are highly, HIGHLY overrated. Read this a thousand times if you need to: you're worthy and your life matters, regardless of whether you have a job or not.
