Today I'm up at the Splash N Foam Car Wash in Three Rivers TX along N Harborth Ave, and I'm here to check out this very interesting and customized late 2010s PDQ ProTouch Tandem that has been interestingly retrofitted with Sonny Side wash brushes. This system was installed in late 2017 or early 2018 following the build of the car wash site, and this is one and only known car wash in that part of the area (along with a tunnel site built in George West by the same company). As I mentioned in the beginning, this system has been custom outfitted with Sonny side brushes when the site was first built, and at one time the main system used to have the standard blue brushes that came standard on the ProTouch Tandems, but at some time in the 2020s, they opted to change the 2 brushes to red ones later on in its service life (though personally, I wish they opted for 2 tone blue and green brushes to match the entry side brushes), but for the most part, the system is still the same from when it was first installed. I bought the top dollar car wash which came out to a rather pricey $20 (pretty high pricing for an IBA if you ask me), and wash quality I would give this an 7/10, undercarriage was decent with the side entry brushes doing a nice job along with the wheel scrubbers acting as the side blasters (though the right side didn't seem to be rotating), the presoak application was decent (not the best along the top unfortunately), the soft touch cycle went very good as all of the brushes profiled nicely (top brush profiled good, though a little light compared to others I've been to and I do love how once it gets to the back of my truck's cab and over the bed, it immediately switches to the overhead blasters, that's some very clever programming) and the side brush gave a nice double pass on the front, the wheel scrubbers sadly weren't programmed to scrub the wheels unfortunately, but surprisingly the tri-foam application came from the back (though not the best coating unfortunately), and surprisingly, the system gave another soft touch cycle even with the top brush, and all did good as usual with the single side brush doing clockwise lap around as opposed to counter clockwise like the first cycle, the clear coat polish pass did good, the lava falls system didn't give the best coating (probably due to the lack of chemicals), the surface protection and spot free rinse cycles did good, and lastly the flash dry feature did a pretty good job, but it wasn't good once it got to the back, as it seems like none of the dryers on either side were working, as well as the final dry pass forward wasn't the best either, since those dryer motors on either side weren't working, only the middle ones. I hope you've enjoyed the video and stay tuned for more to come.
