Oh Thank you for relieving my stress and saving the guy at the pro desk, it wouldve been a sad day. Very sad day indeed.

I'll join the others and thanking you very much for this information. Short and to-the-point and exactly what I was looking for. I just bought this drill as a replacement for my old used one that I've had forever, and is really the only cordless drill I've ever used. For that matter, it was also the only drill I'd ever used, LOL. Anyway, I was super confused when I got home and figured out I couldn't tighten my drill bit in there. Had to look up what chuck jaws even were, and then figure out how to get mine out! So thank you again, I really appreciate it.

Thank you so much for this - Brilliant!! Had just bought new Guild Hammer Drill and new Guild Drill/Driver from different vendors and both devices came with stuck/locked chucks. Fuming!! Saw vids and links saying use WD40 ... pipe wrenches etc and others saying don’t use wrenches or you’ll strip the plastic. Have just freed both my drills in minutes following your advice. Big, big thank you!

Thank you! Was really frustrated by this. I set the speed to the fastest and held on tight to the front part of it. The chuck still didn't want to rotate though as it was still stiff, so I just put a cloth over it and used a pipe wrench to loosen it (the cloth is so that you don't damage the plastic).

Just to let people know who are still having a problem, it will work. Mine was particularly stuck and I thought may be broken.. But I just needed to use channel lock pliers around a rag as suggested and it finally worked free. Just make sure you protect the chuck with a good rag. I set the drill to drill mode, and like original video said, forward position. Good luck, great video. Thanks.

Nice that all the commenters here are happy to have gotten their bits out and we all appreciate that Bob posted this helpful video, but I'm jumping on here to say this: THIS DRILL IS BROKEN, in the sense that the user should not have to resort to operating the tool contrary to the safety instructions that require immobilizing the operation of the tool before removing or installing the bit. This is ridiculous and a design flaw.
