wow, everything about this video just hit me too good. i think a reminder i always like to tell myself when my thoughts get the best of me is "to do things at your own pace" and that everyone's just doing the same thing. i've got a really bad habit of comparing myself and the things that i do, but that quote always help me in convincing myself that my best is good enough. and that the work of others shouldn't demotivate me because mine is not as good as theirs, it should inspire me to keep trying.

I recently quit my job to get my masters. I still am not 100% sure what I wanna do but I know I'm working towards my dream as terrifying as it may be. You're the best, Amy ❤️ Thanks for talking about such touching, real topics.

This topic I really needed to hear, so I really do thank you for talking about this. > I think being realistic with goals and also knowing or reminding yourself why you are doing it really helps in getting unmotivated. You have to focus and spend more time on what's really important instead of squandering your time. > I agree that comparing yourself with others' successes and even failures can also make you feel insecure and unmotivated. I stopped using facebook so I don't have to see what others are posting so I don't feel the pressure and also the jealousy or discouragement because I'm not in the " professional working group" of individuals yet. I also think comparing ourselves to someone else's failures at times doesn't really make one feel better b/c technically, you may be on the same boat as them so you can't really talk bad about them. Just some thoughts I had :) I really love this series and how it is bringing those of us in the comments together in knowing there are others who are trying to overcome the unmotivated stages of our lives. Keep fighting forward everyone!

hey amy!! just wanted to say i love this series and particularly loved and related to this episode. I'm currently in that very 'stuck' position, having finishing highschool this time last year and nearly finishing my first year of uni this year really put me into thinking how much has changed and if i really enjoy what i do right now. And tbh i dont think im 100% sure if this is right for me, i kind of did uni because it was the 'norm', im too scared to do anything that im not familiar with, i chose a degree that i am most comfortable with and i can do, rather than what i like to do - but heres the problem, ive never truly loved doing anything or found a passion in anything specific, hence leading me to this 'stuck' situation. So i started doing youtube as a side interest, and im still learning on the way. But anyhow, Thankyou for doing this video it gave me a lot of insight & i think it helped my thought process heaps more & thankyou for reading my ramble hehe

amy you're amazing. the amount of stress i've dealt with these last few months was really testing me. first the stress of making money and working. then the stress of school and my grades. and the stress of my future. and now my health. i've been feeling totally unmotivated and shit lately, and this video helped a bit with that. i'm going to start pushing forward, even though i may not know exactly what i want to do with my life, i need to be proactive and just have a more positive outlook.

I understand lack of motivation quite well. I deal with pretty severe social anxiety and depression, and as a result it’s hard to do things that I love doing. I just don’t have energy. So I decided that I was going to figure out the absolute minimum and do that. Then, if I have excess energy, do more. I used to get very angry at people telling me to think positively - which, in a way, is justified. Because people think depression can be cured with positivity. But, i didn’t just ignore it, I clung to negativity more tightly. But now I realize that positive thoughts, while it doesn’t cure anything, is a helpful habit that actually stops me from wasting energy on negativity. It’s an energy saver for me. Plus, why would I want to think negatively? It doesn’t feel good and I’m tired of feeling bad. So Ima think more optimistically. I try to incorporate everything I need or want to do in a routine I absolutely have to complete everyday. I ride the bus to school - instead of browsing tumblr, I can read or review. Its easy to do that. Or make a list for the day. I have time before classes. I can read, complete homework so I don’t have to try to do it later when I have no energy, or work on hobbies. At home I split up my chores into manageable bites and I don’t feel like a failure if I don’t complete everything in one day. I completed some of it - that is still good. And one thing - it’s okay to take a breath. To take a break and give your mind time to relax and refresh itself. Burnout is a real and very serious thing. It can be pretty debilitating mentally (hello hi I experienced a mental breakdown - not fun), and one of the best ways to make sure it doesn’t happen is to give yourself time to recuperate when you start to feel too stretched, or lacking energy, or whatever. Structuring your routine to make things easier to do is also very important in my opinion. Executive dysfunction is a symptom I deal with, which means that my brain essentially has a hard time telling my body to do things. I’m literally fighting with myself to do things. So for the absolute minimum that you are capable of doing, structure it to be easy and not draining. Then try to incorporate other things into it. That’s just what’s on my mind.

I wanted to add in my two cents so here it is (it might be morbid?). I'm very prone to feeling unmotivated and stuck, while always finding an excuse to be hard on myself. Whenever that happens, I try to think about how I would feel if I were to die right now and had a chance to look back on my life. Would I be happy? Honestly, no. I haven't achieved all the things I wanted to because instead, I was constantly worrying about the what-ifs, the failures, the unsuccessful. At the same time, the achievements and memories I made help me realize that yes, I can get shit done! I think it goes with what you were saying, Amy, about how worrying/rushing can ruin your 20's. If I aim to get PAST that worrying and sense of hopelessness, I would be able to work toward my goals, you know? I don't know if I articulated this well, but-- anyways. c:
