upper and lower nile has to do with the height of the land. For example, Lower Lorraine is closer to the coast ie closer to sea level than Upper Lorraine.
@paulb3482

It's called upper nile because it's closer to the starting point (Lake Victoria) cause the Nile is weird and it flows north which is rare.

@@paulb3482 Well since we're all subject to this rumored thing called gravity it means water in a natural state tends to flow down. So therefor a River source must always be higher then end point. Edit: search "Rivers Flowing North" First Result: There are countless examples of rivers flowing northward. Some of the most famous are the world's longest river the Nile, along with Russia's Ob, Lena, and Yenisey Rivers. The Red River in the U.S. and Canada and Florida's St. Johns River also flow north

@@paulb3482 I Could argue rivers flowing west are Rare since possibly 3/4rd of all the rivers on the world could flow in a diffrent direction. Its kinda funny saying something is Rare and then one of the first words to describe it is "Countless". Upper/Lower doesn't necessarily have anything to do with rivers or river sources and all to do with the actual gegraphic height of the areas. Both points in your original comment are wrong and could only possible cause confusion and you're still defending it.

@@rickieboy246 thats not the only reason, literally look it up yourself. One of the first things says its due to the proximity to the starting point. Youre correct in saying its cause of the east african highlands.

These additions are also massive for the Ptolemaic campaign. Now you actually have threats to your south and east that need to be dealt with, which could just be safely ignored before. Awesome. I still think the Arabian Peninsula could do with at least one more faction, in its north-eastern region. But it's cool anyway. I might even play as Saba when it comes out, as I do have memories of the original Europa Barbarorum and playing an awesome Sabaean campaign in that. I would love to see an Ethiopian faction added at some point too. Too early for Aksum, but maybe a city state could be represented? It'd just flesh out that southern region just that little bit more.

The Indians in this mod have cities similar to the Persians, in fact they had different walls and architecture, it would be great if they added new architecture to the Indian northern kingdoms.

Obviously like Red Zed said they are placeholders that will get remastered some point in the future which is why Kush has the generic Egyptian portraits of Rome 1 vanilla instead of more fitting Nubian portraits so I think as they move along with updating the other factions these ones will get theirs.

Sweet, also I noticed that they remastered the background of the start menu. Also, I really want an option to sack and then abandon a city so I can actually do a raiding campaign. It becomes worth it to sack a bunch of enemy cities without having the enemy get a ton of OP armies. Especially with the enabling of sea travel, it becomes worth it to start raiding around the world.

@Red_Zed Darn I hope if Feral every make another patch they allow modders to insert the raze option so you can raid cities and towns more naturally instead of doing the long route of taking it over and tearing it all down then just leaving while putting up with hoping it revolts without causing the settlement to turn over to the original faction.

19:48 "Upper" and "Lower" Egypt is derived from the fact that Upper Egypt is physically higher, as in the water is flowing downhill to Lower Egypt. Lower Egypt begins just south of the Nile Delta and is very flat, whereas Upper Egypt is the the rest of the length of Egypt, where the right bank of the Nile often flows right up against steep cliffs and mountains. The Upper Thames is another example; in that instance it's the section of the River Thames found sufficiently upstream that it's no longer tidal.

As someone who always prefers to build their empire from small roots, what do you people who like to start big find interesting in an empire that already starts with 90 regions? (Genuine question)
@Red_Zed

I love both ways. I love building up a nation from nothing! However i think the larger starts offer a completely different challenge. Some of the larger ones such as the Ptolemies are quite easy, I would say the Ptolemies is one of the strongest starts. But the Seleucids for example is a really different campaign, the difficulty in the campaign and interest comes internally. Externally you are surrounded but you should be ok because you can have the money and troops to defend and/or conquer, but you are vulnerable everywhere and highly unstable internally. Giving the campaign a completely different challenge to a small start where all your threats are external. So that’s why I like it, the campaign management side! Another big one like the Antigonids actually start very externally vulnerable and you have to scramble to keep your land. So a couple of examples of why people enjoy the big starts, a different play style and challenge to the small ones :)
