@@tomas8103 so I did end up buying the 240 hertz monitor and the 5800x3d and the performance increase I saw in heavily cpu intensive games like World of warcraft was Insane. I went fro. 80/90 fps to 150fps or greater. I no longer see the fps drops in big 25 man raid battles. Before I would drop down to 50 or 60 fps in the 25 man battles it was terrible. It was a major upgrade for me coming from the 3900x. I did not think it would be that good. Also i want to add that if you have saved a previous BIOS profile that had CPU vcore manual or offset and you install 5800X3D and restore this profile then the CPU will run at base 3.4Ghz and will not boost. I was scratching my head when i upgraded from 3800X to 5800X3D as to why my X3D was not boosting despite the fact that i had the latest bios (X570 Aorus Master 1.0 and bios version f36c). Turns out that when restoring the profile the vcore setting (not to be confused with vcore soc) is still there but hidden. And since it is hidden it cannot be reset. The only option is to load optimized defaults or create a new profile with X3D installed.

@@rekiZVO I see. First you need to upgrade to the latest BIOS with your 5600X and then save the profile without any vcore offset or manual vcore setting. Also CPU core boost (the +200Mhz on top of PBO)) needs to be disabled. Then save this profile. After installing 5800X3D you should be able to import this profile so that all settings are visible and that the X3D will boost properly. Also im not sure what motherboard you have but i have Gigabyte and they finally added curve optimizer into BIOS. This allows you to set a -30 negative offset on all cores. It will make the CPU run cooler and boost better. Not sure if it's universal on all motherboards but PBO needs to be set to advanced and then the curve optimizer submenu will show up.

World of Warcraft's code is rumored to be a mess. If the PC build you have drops below 60fps then you are in trouble in World of Warcraft. You want locked 60fps at all times or your healing/dps numbers will suffer. The lows are below 60fps, that is bad. Basically gpu is importent if you want max graphics settings. You lower graphic settings until you get 60fps locked. Basically whatever it takes to get locked a 60fps. Correctly setup, a 10900k/3080 ti will get 4k@60 with all graphics max'ed out and never drop below 60fps. The 5800X3D is dropping below 60fps which is bad. The video is 4k@60 which is another bad sign. So he is likely basically testing the bottleneck on his gpu and not the cpu. Most decent cpus are the same at 4k with a RTX 3060. Its all gpu limited.

In case you planning to do the same for the 7800X3D, it would be great if you could load up your World of Warcraft with a few Addons and Weakauras! Elvui specifically is a huge draw on the CPU. Would be helpful! Almost nobody plays wow anymore on a higher level without any addons and those really are the issue! Thanks for all due dilligence!

If I have 5800x, is ti worth it change to 5800x3d like my last upgrade of AM4 setup? ( 5700xt and a monitor 3840*1080 144hz) Basically I play World of Warcraft all the time. What do you think?

I use a 2070 Super with Ryzen 5 3600, I want a new build but not for about 16 months, should I go ahead and upgrade my CPU to like a 5800X3D now or just want and do a new AM5 build early 2024? mostly do single person games, adventure and shooter

Hello boiz. I just got a 5800x3d and a 6800xt few days ago, and went to mythic raid with it. Every drivers are updated, windows11 is updated, SAM is enabled, wow is dropping at 20/40fps in most encounters while it seem to work properly out of raid. I just use elvui/BW/weakaura and not a ton of them. I double checked everything is updated and i have no addon/lua error. Any chance someone can help me here ? :

The 5800x3D is the perfect final upgrade for anyone on AMD socket am4+, especially if they play games like WoW. For those currently on Intel or non 5000 series compatible AMD boards, probably should look at going for a ddr5 based build.

World of wordcraft would likely be better on the cheaper 5900x. My 10900k never drops below 60fps with the correct graphics settings on a RTX 2060. Same with the RTX 3080 TI.

Its not if you have a 5800x but if you have a old 3600x or something worse. The old crap AM4 motherboard you have, with its lower end VRMs will be able to take the 5800x3d and this is a massive upgrade in game performance for such an old system. Remember these older boards often dont like DDR4 3600 or above RAM speeds. You can upgrade to a 5800x3d and soldier on with your old DDR4 3200 kit. Still get decent performance.

@@iyaramonk Yes, given the cpu is overall slower than the 5800x. The 5900x is also cheaper and better overall. It's seems like a high premium for a small bump in gaming performance over an overclocked and ram tuned 5900x.

Avec une RTX 3060 dans la la quasi majorité des cas, c'est inutile de changer un R5 3600 par un R7 5800X3D ... Faut un meilleur gpu pour que ça vaux réellement le coup ( sauf cas très particulier et rare ) ... Gaspillage d'argent
@zveltis

@GodKitty677

You have to retune the RAM and test if you change the cpu (you have to run a memory test at least). 5800x3d is rumored to gain less from memory tuning. The video, "Does RAM Speed Even Matter With The AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D? Escape From Tarkov RAM Benchmark Comparison" States at the end that DDR4 3200 CL16 performs about the same as DDR4 3933 CL14. The Ryzen 7 5800X3D have a "weakness" on memory scaling performance: DDR4/3200 vs DDR4/3800 give just +1% more performance at gaming. This is how a 12900k system can be overclocked to be faster than a 5800X3D system. Faster DDR5 with tuned settings.

The 5800x3D is not worth the $450-$500 cost. For modern games youre way better off getting any other CPU and a better GPU. For example a 12700F is $310 performs better in multithreading, is only a few percent slower in gaming, but throw the extra $150 into a GPU and its a way better build than the 5800x3d.
@tenseur2
