I want to think running without air filters is stupid, but the way the turbos are mounted high and ahead of the front wheels might keep sand out. Doesnt matter anyway, these people have hundreds of thousands of dollars into this and are the best in the world at what they do. Im sure they didnt build a $100,000 engine and then go "oops forgot the filter so fuck it". Im sure the people who can push 3000hp out of a race engine can also screw a filter on if needed. They arent building for any type of longevity either.

And to my fellow Americans on this thread, please stop opening your mouth and proving to the rest of the world how bigoted, racist and hatefull you are. It amazes me how many Americans are so ignorant and concieted that they carry on to the effect that anything not american is inferiour or no good and they can always do something better. Rarely that is in fact the case. No one in world outside of the US think American engineering and technology is anything but adequate at best. The way some yanks are so disparaging of anything not american is only proof of how uneducated and ignorant such a large percentage are. Sure you can build a more powerful engine when it's 2 or 3 times the size but it's not the same thing as getting efficency from a limited displacement. These guys run to their own formulas. They don't give a shit what Americans think or do. Despite the egotistical patriotic ignorance from some americans, they are happy to do what suits them in their country not cater to the whims of the worlds most self absorbed people of all.

These guys are blowing motors with 4x4's never made to do what they built them for while a top fuel drag team dose the same with huge sponsors and 100% special gear so in my opinion these guys are pulling off crazier shit than most other types of drag racing so yeah you can compare the 2.

This is coming from someone with no knowledge of the engine or it's shortcomings. I'm looking at it from a viewpoint of what can be done with much less via sleeves (if needed), and the run of the mill parts needed to turbo a 4g63 to 1000hp. That's where this is all coming from.

I have a 1996 Honda Odyssey that has mild transmission issues and a few leaks here and there. Have the stock tires on there too. Ran a 4.3 in this event easy.

no air filters are needed because they are high enough above the debri/sand stream. Take a good look and you will see that . These engines don't have to last 100,000 miles and an ordinary filter would stall the engine right after it gets sucked into the HUGE turbo. Don't criticize so much....watch ,learn and enjoy.

I have to agree with the "intelligent" comments.. This isn't the best or intelligent way to do this, and I've seen better.. Not saying where since its Amer.. Something and I don't want sound like im.. Acting superior...

cover turbo in the way to sand racing, uncover turbo and leave it open when racing in the sand.... seems to make sense to me.

Calibrating all the sensors then tuning is the most important thing to any forced induction engine.. Shit tune = broken engine's.. ^^^^ nice build's though..

Look at what kind of tires used in this class and u will all understand.. Those kind of tires barely hooked up on the sand and going up on a hard angle in the same time with a car put more than +1500whp as we can see, the tires will spinning a lot making the engine Rev to red line like a crazy and that put a lot of stress on the engine parts make it explode or get a lot of damage and the rules here in this class doesn't allow to use paddles to make it more difficult and exciting and to see which one make the best mod work on his car to handle all the difficult without failure and reach the top of the hill @ best time and speed.. I hope you all understand now.. Btw, there is other classes allowed to use the paddles in some events (like in street drag race big tire drag race and small tire drag race or ss class, promod, pro nitrous, top fuel all classes have a rules) its a same in S.D's

A whole lot of plumbing that is behind the times. Anyone who’s built turbocharged engines can see that...Basically they are throwing a bunch of money away and have no clue as to how to build an engine or plan a winning car..
