Patrick Kinsella is a former Army Ranger and K9 handler who spent 1 deployment in Iraq and 4 deployments to Afghanistan while serving with 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. His time in SOF had him trained with K9s, and conducting nighttime raids on HVTs and Mi-17 crashes. But, he'll quickly share that some of his best time was as a contractor in Afghanistan where he trained the Afghanistan Female Tactical Platoon (FTP) who is tasked with supporting the Afghan Special Security Forces during counterterrorism operations, specializing in searches, interrogations, and medical assistance.
He came off of the Appalachian Trail to tape this episode and we discuss his time in and out of service and why being on the trail was so important.
