I'm glad they're still making these. I know cassette walkmans (walkmen?) have done way downhill since the 90s. I've been slowly becoming disillusioned with Spotify lately, but I've found so many new artists on it that I'd have a LOT of music to buy to catch up... and I got rid of all my CD collection except for maybe a dozen albums that weren't on Spotify. And I don't even know where to buy music anymore, lol!

@@LauraMalvoyante that is a darn shame too that people don't. I used to love talking about music with people and my favorite albums and such. I'm sure people will give you lots of music feedback, but I recommend you check out Just Surrender and There for Tomorrow. let me know what you think of those 2 bands!

GIRL SAME! What a great find! This is such a great pick - I am going to do some searching and see where they mail it to Australia. It's great they have Bluetooth capability! I know I can come here for the best recommendations. I'm currently working on an old school Neocities site to also lofi my internet experience. If you set one up with all of your recommendations that would be awesome! Keep up the phenomenal videos. p.s. CD skipping once came to the rescue when I almost stepped on a red bellied black snake while hiking in the bush (I live in Australia). I don't think I will encounter many snakes these days so this will be a godsend.

I still have my ~2000 CDs bought during my 20s and 30s... and while I do like my Hidisz to be able to carry a lot of my music (no internet or android just a hi-def player) when at home I either play CDs or LPs there is this material connection to the artist that no streaming can match... in my opinion... after all I was made in '78 and I like owning my music not just renting it. "Al chancho con lo que lo crian" our grandmothers used to say.

I only kept a few CDs from the early 2000s. I am always on the hunt for my past favorites. I really like the CD inserts with pictures and photos. Also the CD designs and album art is much more impactful in physical form.

My music listening went down to radio. For that, I have my Nokia 225 (with my personal number) that lasts for hours and hours of listening. In theory, it can play mp3s, but..

I would listen to the radio more if I still drove. Also the radio stations in my area are not great for my music tastes. I have a few phones with an FM and I think I will test them out while I'm in the states next month.

Hi laura. Great video. I've decided to go for a portable cd player rather than go for the ripping cd option. It's the cheaper option to. I may invest in a laptop or a pc one day and if i do then I'll rip to mp3. I've got all my files, docs and pics on my 1TB T7 drive today so no more subscriptions for me. Hope you're having a great week 👍
@LauraMalvoyante

It's definitely the easiest option. I struggle to motivate myself to rip every CD. I enjoy having a portable CD player again. I'm having a good week and hope yours is going well too!

Is it possible to hold it vertically? I wanted to walk around and listen to music with a vintage cd walkman belt that i have at home :)

No it doesn't. I just tested it and it does skip vertically. I'm sure a sports model exists that you can use for your case. I remember having one for jogging back in the day, an Aiwa.

I have respect for your critical thinking toward digital medium. But, for instance in russia, - my home country, - we dont have much cd shops and place s you can get those you need. Especially If you listen to heavy metal music. And because Russia is canceled you wont get a cd as a mail order from Internet. So i have to use download or emdia streaming services. We may have few vinyl shop in a big cities like Moscow, which also cost tons of money. So there's no that many options.

Thanks for the insight on the music scene in Russia. I am lucky to live in a place where people still consume and donate old CDs. I would download or stream if I didn't have the option, that's for sure.
