The price is not that big a deal in light of what the other big wheels are bringing to the table for the same price. Imagine what one would suffer should one get injured from a cutout fall, days to weeks off from work, disabilities along with complications from the injuries, etc. Therefore, we are getting a bargain price for enhanced safety. Ewheels current pricing on V13 is 4k. I realize that is 'early bird pricing' however even if it ends up costing $4500 it is still very competitive with the rest of these big wheels which are priced from $4k up to $4600. The build quality of the V13 is exceptional and ready to ride right out of the box; no need to waste money upgrading parts to make an inferior product serviceable. Many of these cheaper wheels are not so cheap once you add on the upgrades. Begode, for example, is cheaper because it is cheaply built.

Great review Marty & Dawn ... looks like InMotion has checked all the boxes except for 1 .... for those with range anxiety .... now give us a modular battery that can be carried in a back pack and swapped out if required ... plug and go ... I wonder which EUC company will be the first to check off that box? .. With cutoff safety, water-proofing, great speed, stability, great headlight, trolly, decent footplates all covered (how's the seated riding btw?) ... add a modular battery swap and that should cover all bases InMotion.
@ElectricUnicycles
Жыл бұрын
In practice (people have done it) modular batteries aren't practical. Batteries are *heavy* and not pleasant to carry around on your back. Better to get a wheel that has big enough batteries inside. Seated riding is not possible without a special seat which is not available.

Great seeing both of you talk about the v13! I do like the polish of the wheel…looks amazing. I’ve been thinking and planning my own personal riding plan for 2023 and I still have no clue which new wheel to target given how each wheel offers pretty vastly different things. I’m still about that speedy street big at least 3600Wh battery suspension, but I wouldn’t mind something just a tad lighter and more compact. Looking forward to the EX30 vs Commander Pro comparisons. I really like this wheel. Hope inmotion will do another iteration of it in a 18 or 16inch format. This wheel has many good points, and I (personally here) find it a sad the main selling point is the speed. Many many riders just don't care about max speed
@ElectricUnicycles
Жыл бұрын
I only care about max speed because of the increased safety margin that it provides. I'd love to own an EUC that can go 150-kph for that reason. I think the main selling point of the V13 is not speed but safely and quality.
@Stan0619

This was a splendid review. I have noticed that many users that do not like the price of the V13 have several EUCs in their inventory. In your opinion, for how many boxes the V13 checks, would it be fair to say that this could be a complete wheel, or closest to being a complete wheel more than anyone produced? The only reason I am asking is that it seems that the riders with many wheels have many wheels, because there weren’t any complete wheels available, until the V13 possibly. And if this is the complete wheel that does everything many wheels do, is it fair to say that the price is justified by having this one wheel Swiss Army Knife? Thanks

Not really because there can *never* be a perfect wheel. For instance, the V13 has quality and speed, but not range. And it's serviceable for trails but not the best.

Agree with Marty. This is a great solo wheel if you want waterproof, low/mid range, safety, quality, smooth/stable ride. Sport Touring wheel. It'll do decent on light trails. But it's not an extreme trail/jump wheel. And it's not a long distance wheel.

@@Hunter_Heart I'm sure EUCs are profitable. But at what point are you taking your data? From R&D to material cost inflation to zero economy of scale to salaries at all levels of the company and its subcontractors to insurance to government costs to licensure in every country they sell in, to wholesale discount price for dealers to allow them to profit... plus a thousand other hidden costs... EUCs at the level of quality of the V13 aren't exactly a money grab. Since you cant actually make 100% profit on a product, I assume you mean they sell it wholesale for more than twice their total cost? (Cost $1K, sell for $2k isn't 100% profit. It's 50%. You never get to 100%.) What do you think Inmotion sells it to dealers for, so they can mark it up themselves and stay in business? TLDR: I doubt anybody is getting rich making EUCs. Depending on your definition of "rich," of course.😁
@caliman99
Жыл бұрын
@@ElectricUnicycles You are correct. And they usually get what they pay for. "False economy" is what we learned to call it. It may seem like an economical choice to buy the cheaper thing, until it costs 2x as much to maintain or replace, or takes 50% more to make it as usable as the higher-cost, higher-quality thing in the first place. I'll take McMaster-Carr over Amazon any day of the week. Thanks for what you do!

@@caliman99 Then you don't know China manufacturing capacities and their labor costs. All parts are literally sourced locally, as in mass produce (dirt cheap). Yesterday sweatshop companies are today EUC manufacturer. What you are thinking is Western startups...Its wild wild west over there as in term of making anything that could bring in a profit. R&D? lol This is how it goes, CNC the parts then let employees (none pro, mostly just gentle riders) ride the wheel couple of times, if nothing breaks then sent it to distributors for beta testers. Mass produce or/maybe fix it on another batch. Thats why you see uneven wires and a hot mess in the motherboard. Its now that V13 step up their game. At the end of the day, EUC are made from a few parts. Material and inflation? lol When you control all the way to the minerals, you control everything. The A Bionic SOC in iPhones are the most powerful SOC though. Until very recently, the A Bionics are like 3 generations ahead in performance. The SD 8 Gen 2 cut the lead into just one, but Apple will be releasing its counterpart by the last quarter of this year. Who knows, maybe Apple will release a proper next gen SOC. What I'm saying is, comparing iPhones to IM, and Androids to other companies, including Begode, is probably not the best. I think IM V13 is like the Samsung Galaxy series.
