One of them has a very intriguing name "Valley of Ghosts", which attracts and arouses interest among tourists, as a kingdom of giant figures. You can find this beautiful natural corner near Alushta, on the slope of Mount Demerdzhi.
Mount Demerdzhi, its other name “Blacksmith Gora”, is one of the most unique natural monuments and remains undoubtedly one of the most popular tourist sites. On a slope in the Middle Ages, the Funa fortress was located; it is by it that the trail of the excursion route to the Valley of the Ghosts now passes, a valley with a stunning and unusual landscape. This is a picturesque place with thickets of blackberries, rose hips and hawthorns. Fruit trees have already run wild - this is just a confirmation that people lived here for thousands of years and left the place only after the + Yalta earthquake in 1927.
The "Valley of Ghosts" is located on the western slope of the mountain and presents a stunning picture. No sculptors or architects - only wind, water and time created this place. Numerous admirers of paze + azhev, photographers, artists come here from all over the world to reflect all the beauty and mystery of the area in their creations. Bizarre stone sculptures lined the mountainside. These are figures of mystical images, people, animals and just any objects. The play of light and shadows does its job! Transforming one figure into another, one image into another!
Referring to the geographical information, the territory of the valley is 20 hectares. It is part of the protected area "Demerdzhi tract" and is under protection as a geological natural monument of national importance. There are more than a hundred stone statues and figures in the valley. Driving along the Simferopol - Alushta highway, you can see a stone figure that has the image of a female bust. Tourists gave the name to this rock "Catherine II" in honor of the Russian empress. Although you cannot find one hundred percent similarity, in general terms you can say that. The "Giant" pillar rushes upwards with a height of 25 meters and in a girth with a diameter of 5 meters delights with its power. This stone block is framed by smaller, but how to say small - pillars 10-20 meters high. If you look at these pillars, they look like "damn fingers".
All the whimsical forms are the result of the centuries-old labor of Mother Nature. Earthquakes drove up or lowered figures, splitting rocks into smaller boulders. Precipitation, sun, wind gave them an architectural sophistication and value. Nature itself came up with these bizarre shapes. The total age of the rocks is from 800 million to 1.1 billion years, the volume of the mountain x + aos is 4 million cubic meters. The scientific world is also of great interest to the rock, since these are the most ancient rocks. The flora and fauna of the valley is also very interesting. Apparently a mystical place and should be so - interesting and exciting in all areas. Flora and fauna has about 1000 species of its representatives.
Not only the mystical power of attraction attracts tourists to the valley, but also the extraordinary beauty of nature.
The ascent to the valley begins, as already mentioned from the ruins of a medieval fortress. Once upon a time, the Funa fortress towered over the whole valley, protecting the only road deep into the peninsula - this was the popular trade route from Gorzuvit, present-day Gurzuf and Aluston (Alushta) to the Mountainous and Steppe Crimea. Now only picturesque ruins remain. The exposition is very interesting - the fortress itself, costumes and crossbows of knights, a catapult, devices and tools of medieval artisans. The museum's souvenir shop offers replicas of medieval tableware. By the way, treasures were found here, including gold ones. Now all this is kept in Simferopol in the Central Museum of Taurida in the Golden Storeroom ..
