For peace of mind and ease of installation you might as well run just a power line (without connecting it!) to the location where you would install an AC unit, so you won't have to take apart the interior any more than necessary, should you opt to go for AC later.

Love it when you talk and go through the things you think about. You are very entertaining. It's funny with video things like this, you begin to feel like family and if we were to run into each other at the store, it would be as if we were old friends. The weird part for you is that you would have no clue who we are. ;-) BUT, most of us would welcome you over to dinner anytime you were in the area and offer you a place to rest. That's the cool part. Love the idea of a daily blog in Dec and this will help you work through the "overthinking." Just talk about your thoughts. Does not have to be about Christmas. Tell some stories of growing up or trips you took or anything. You have 25,000 people who think you are pretty great! You're the best Elisa! Keep going! ;-)

Hi Elisa, so sorry you're not feeling so well.... Acidity in coffee ☕ especially when you're a coffee lover ❤☕ can build up and hurt your stomach...what helped me was to drink coffee that contain some sort of mushroom powder like Reishii mushroom 🍄 or lions main. That coffee isnt so acidy. It might take a few days to get used to it though. But its worth it. 😅 hope it helps.

It is so cool you are at the same stage building your van as me going through same decisions.. just made the decision a few weeks ago about not doing rooftop A/C and went with 2 maxxair fans. I anticipate installing an A/C solution eventually but it will not be on the roof.. most likely a mini split mounted on one of the rear doors or under the van.

I really enjoy your channel. As someone who worked professionally on cars for 20+ years I know how it feels and the frustrations you go through. Cars are hard to work on. It is not easy, it is a road of many mistakes and corrections. So when you are working keep in mind we ALL deal with same frustrations, whether we have worked on cars for 1 month or 30 years. In other words what you are going through is perfectly normal. Do not judge yourself harshly when doing difficult things. You are doing fine. Keep up the good work and know the people that watch your channel are pulling for you, ( and the Bunny too).

Its easy to get into the trap of overthinking everything particularly with a project this big . The " what ifs " are endless . Like already mentioned run the wiring up there in case you decide one day to buy an AC unit . Spend the money you save on the best insulation possible especially for the ceiling . BTW I have two fans like you , they work great . I also have AC but never run it all day , just for about a hour in the evening to cool down the interior . My solar , lithium system easily keeps up using it this way . My advice is get the basics in place where you are comfortable living in the van , go on some trips . Some things you will love , some things you may want to change . Only by using your van will you discover what " fits " for you . Try not to stress over decisions too much . For me the only difference between a good haircut and a bad one is about two weeks 😂

Enjoying your videos. Especially enjoy your sense of humor and your appreciation of nature. Some thoughts on stomach problems. Lots of different causes but I will share mine. YMMV My stomach problems are mainly caused by anything with citric acid. Fruit juices, fruits, anything with vinegar etc. It sucks but I have to watch that carefully and limit my consumption. As for coffee, I was a coffeeholic. Fresh ground, French press coffee every day, all day until around 4 pm. It never bothered me until I got older and then it (the caffeine) caused tinitus and affected my balance. YMMV Now I drink decaf green tea (only Salada because it is naturally decaffeinated). I've grown to love it as much as I loved my coffee. Good for you because it has lots of antioxidents and phytochemicals that are good for you. If caffeine is not a problem, try gunpowder green tea. One of my favorites. As for your hair, I have no clue. LOL! You have exceptional beauty and I can see you as being a successful actor. You are very photogenic and I suspect such a talented person as yourself could act too. Just a thought.

the biggest decision for making that choice would be, where you plan on traveling and when (ie what time of year) - I was in the same position you are in when doing my build (you are welcome to watch them on my channel), and I actually go into the reasons why I ended up installing the AC unit. Mainly it was the fact that my trailer was getting up into the 110+ degrees, just sitting in my side yard. At the end of the day purchasing a standard AC unit (not the 12v AC units, they are extremely overpriced and way oversized) was a good choice, the AC unit can operate on my battery bank through the inverter, so it is definitely NOT NECESSARY to be plugged into shore power, it helps for sure but is not required. A few things you would need though is a good inverter 2000W or greater, and the most important part is having a "SOFT START" unit that attaches to your AC unit and allows the inverter to operate the AC compressor without large draws. Initially I ran it on 200ah battery bank (which are battleborn, but any 200ah battery bank would suffice tbh). The maxxair unit provides some good airflow, however it does not quite tunnel like I thought it would in my head. In my case the maxxair is more for when the shower is running and warm humid air is in the trailer, I wanted to make sure that it would get evacuated from the trailer as soon as possible. I did not want moisture getting trapped in places where molds could take root. Good luck!

I've been considering an ac unit not a,12v mainly for daytime so as not to have to sit idling the engine to run the truck ac . At night I use a dewalt 20v fan and it has been just fine and I'm here in Florida as well. The maxxair is great definite necessity for pulling moisture out when cooking or running a buddy heater. I love those side windows I'm not brave enough to cut my van though. Gonna have any cut outs professionally done. I did a roof fan on another van a few yrs back did everything right (so I thought) butyl tape lap sealant . It leaked

Nice video. For quitting coffee, a gradual taper has worked for me to have minimal withdrawal effects. I've heard a 10% reduction per day works (so 100% coffee volume first day, 90% following day, etc). I did a longer withdrawal with first week 100%, second week 75%, etc. You can also do the same with caffeine pills and divide them up with a pill-cutter. As for AC, I've seen some other videos using a backpack AC on the back door, so maybe that's an option?

I know you live in Florida. With the humidity, A/C would be a must-have there almost anytime of the year I’d think. I live in the Arizona desert. On my overlanding trailer I opted to NOT get A/C. When I desert camp in the winter I don’t need A/C at all. During summers we camp in the high country of Arizona and the west and it is usually cool enough to be fine….we call it “chasing the 70’s”….if it gets too warm or too chilly at an elevation we just move to a different elevation to find 70 degree temperatures. So in short, it just depends on where you plan on spending most of your time…back east or in the mountainous west.

This is where Hybrids have a huge advantage. You can run the A/C all day and only burn .5 gallons of gas. The A/C will run off the hybrid battery most of the time and the gas engine turns on for a minute or two every 15 minutes to re-charge the hybrid battery. I had a bigger Van but I replaced it with a hybrid SUV because even though I'm alittle cramped in the SUV the temperature control is worth it.

If you did everything right, an air conditioner that works on solar is an expensive undertaking. If you do it wrong, you end up having to do it twice, more expensive. You also have no room for vents or decks or anything like that, you would have to dedicate all that rooftop space to solar in my experience.

My current thinking is when I retire which is 10-20 years I won't get AC either in a van. The amount of power necessary requires a lot more electrical equipment. I figure the fans and vents should be fine, plus I can handle if I get a 2 compartment fridge and keep a good amount of ice. I can make ice water-soaked towels for the back of my neck or whereever. I did that when I came to Arizona on a brutally hot day.
