The top arm should be fairly straight but slightly bent. The elbow needs to be bent enough that the joint is not locked straight. The amount of bend will vary from person to person but it should remain constant throughout the stroke. Another component that comes into play here is the elbow positioning. The top elbow should point up, not down. This is called a high elbow. There is more info on the CKC website under Coaching resources.

Do you know a video that teaches the basics of c1 paddling??? I am starting from zero knowledge. Ive been able to paddle a few strokes already but keeps losing balance. I want to know any video or materi that can teach me the basics. Tnx

actually my friends top arm was looked ,hes shoulder msucle came of his bone and he cant train anymore.
