Rattlesnakes are one of the most iconic snakes of the Americas. Most species of rattlesnakes live in Mexico. Central American rattlesnake (Crotalus simus) lives in Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, or Costa Rica. It is a venomous pit viper and one of the biggest venomous snakes of Central America. In this video you will see 3 rattlesnake individuals, one with a huge rattle. Wild rattlesnakes often exhibit an impressive defensive behavior. This rattlesnake (cascabel) has highly keeled scales on the next, thanks to which it resembles bushmasters (matabuey). A bite from this venomous snake is dangerous, but there are rattlesnakes with much stronger toxins.
