Oh wow. Maybe my favorite SAK tool layout I've seen. A breakdown on how this one came together would be awesome. Basically has everything I actually use in the SwissChamp and nothing I don't.

Thanks! I'm digging it.Pain to build because of the combo tool, but aside from that, SwissChamp works, just remove stuff/add combo. Explorer/Mountaineer add combo tool is what I used.

I really enjoyed this video as I have been thinking along the same lines now. Takes a lot of old knives to build however unless you buy old Champs I guess.

Why a Inline Philips screwdriver when the metal file can open Philips screws.

Cool mod. I would just like to ask, does the awl work nicley on the back of the metal file? I believe it is a slightly thicker tool, so I have not tried that before. Also, just so you know, the Handyman comes with the metal file next to the blade liner just like you have here. It has the chisel on the back side of the metal file. I don't own one, but that liner should work without issue. So I am wondering if having the awl instead of the chisel has something to do with it. The champ is the same, now that I think about it.

Yep, I think you nailed it. The awl pushes that layer against the blade and that is why the file rubs. It's slight though, and you get an awl, so I think it's not a bad tradeoff. If you want it factory perfect, then maybe no, but it's so minor....
