Covering Merle is a tall task. Vince nails it in his unique way. Not that he couldn't do it on his own but Lyle has a way of giving his heros and contemporaries a platform to tell their stories. He's a helluva singer in his own right but always happy to give the floor.

this song came out during the Vietnam conflict which so many folks knew was an unjust war and protested their concerns and the rifts that were created still reverberate through our land

I feel the same way about Staunton VA. Why do they pronounce it Stanton?
@gregtuttle8698
6 жыл бұрын
It's named for Lady Rebecca Staunton, wife of a colonial governor in the 1730s. Folks dropped the "u" over time to become "stan-ton." I've never heard more explanation than that. A mystery for the ages.

I say I rather have 0 friends than have 6 friends that are useless. I'm honest and really dont care what people think of me. If you cant handle the truth dont ask me something or to talk with me. I rather get hurt by the truth than look stupid over a lie. Rant over.

"If you don't love it - leave it". With all that is going on here politically and economically, socially and racially with so much discord I'd suggest to those who hate the US to do as did Britney Griner did and insult her nation. Shortly thereafter and due to a small drug issue she spent some time in a Russian jail and all of a sudden the US was the most important thing in the world. And, from what I gather, Griner's attitude is very, very different. If that's the case then good for her, she learned something and she'll be a better athlete and woman for it.

When Townes Van Zandt sang "I've been everywhere / I've done every drug", his two bandmates would walk off the stage and disappear for a cigarette break, waving their hands in disdain at Townes.

Most men get drafted or go to the military when they are of age, not as a child.
