The nice thing about Japanese incense is that it produces very little smoke and the smell doesn't linger for too long. I order a whole bunch every now and then. It also makes for great gifts.

Yes! I converted my husband to the Japanese brands mostly. He loves burning it in the house (no matter how many times I tell him they’re mainly designed for outdoor use) and they make me cough and my eyes water. The Japanese ones don’t give me that strong of a reaction, especially with the windows open lol

This was very cool! I bet you can find flea markets like this in other parts of Japan, like maybe closer to your home in Tokyo. I would definitely love to see them if you do! I don't think I knew about flea markets like this while I was living there. I probably just didn't know they were held on specific dates if I stumbled across one. I LOVED the little covered shopping street (shotengai) in my little town of Okamachi in Toyonaka when I lived there. It was like walking back in time into Show era Japan. There were lots of little shops that specialized in one thing. There were a few vegetable shops, a fish shop, a butcher, a cake shop. There was a little hobby shop stacked so full of plastic models it was hard to walk around inside. There was a little shop to buy your basic electronic goods There was this little yatai that sold crepes year round and shaved ice in the summer. And there were two supermarkets right across the street from each other. I went to both for specific items, I guess based on price. There were about half a dozen supermarkets within bicycle distance from my apartment I went to for specific things, in fact. It was all part of the fun for me. Thanks for another great video!

I was SO hoping that I would be in Kyoto for this in February or March but I was too late/early and there were no markets while I was in Kyoto a few weeks ago. I wish I had planned my trip better. I was disappointed about the number of tourists in Kyoto - Osaka was less busy, which was surprising from past experience.

I'm such a boringly practical person so the only thing I'd buy from what we saw is probably a cutting board since it really is about time I got a new one. Shame about the temple but standing outside something interesting and not being able to enter is something I can relate to. It's been so many times when I'm out travelling that I arrive at a place only to realize that they're closed because it's not the tourist season or I arrived just 15 minutes after they closed for the day. Haven't had the specific "out of cash" experience yet though, most places in Sweden that require an entry fee luckily accepts card payment 🙂
