Tried to go here today, the gate at the bottom (south) of the canyon was locked, blocking access to the public land up the road. There were no signs stating private property.

@@wyattallinson9575 I didn't go on the property as I stated. The road on Tooele county records is labeled as a county road (TC 02925). Just because the road goes through private property does not mean the road itself can be legally blocked. If public access exists long enough, it becomes a default right. Given that there is a county road number assigned to it, I'm guessing it has been around a long time. There's a lot of laws around that and in this case I don't have any history to comment if locking the gate is legal or not. It does seem like someone would put up a no trespassing sign if that is their intent. In looking at Tooele county records, it looks like this private land is surrounded by BLM, state lands, and USFS lands. The rock outcropping in this video on this road is not on the private land but past it on USFS land. It looks like this road is access to the USFS and even crosses the SITLA land. I have no dog in this fight. I just put my message of it being locked to save someone the trip out there wanting to see a cool granite hill on USFS land and not being able to. Save them the trip.... you should thank me for the message. :)

@@itsallwonky I wasn't meaning to reply to you, my bad I didn't see it attached your name. I was talking to the op. It isn't a county road once it crosses the private . No maintenence by county.

@@wyattallinson9575 County roads can cross private land and often do. Not all county roads have regular maintenance. In this case, the county road extends through the property, across a state land parcel, and into the USFS land parcel (no other roads reach this area). This is why you often see no trespassing signs specify not to leave the roadway that both sides are private land. In their cases, they can't block access to the road but can restrict access to the non-road area.
