Thank you for checking out the video! A lot of lawn bowlers don't realize just how similar the game is around the world!

Great intro to visualization in this edition of Coaches Corner Darryl! I used visualization before I even knew what it really was! And for someone who uses visualization and can attest to it's benefits in lawn bowls...I think it's still kind of an abstract concept that is difficult to practice. It just sort of happens for me. Can you maybe explain a bit more about visualizing positive outcomes using our 5 senses?

This is all helpful information. It would be vastly more impactful if you could impart the education in a more visual way. Showing clips of people who get too wrapped up in the frustrations of the moment and struggle/fail to clear their heads and reset to a more positive image of their play. Testimonials from players, relaying how mental imaging has worked, and maybe not worked, for them would also be impactful. I get too much powerpoint at work ... It's not useless. But it's not at all the most impactful, helpful education I've experienced.

One thing I try to teach is adjusting weight. In your opinion what is the best way to teach this? PS I use pie plates flattened and held in place with a roofing nail set at different lengths.

Hey CJ -- weight is always a tough concept for bowlers to break down. That's why elite bowlers typically have outstanding weight control and the ability to adjust. It's the key to execution. Trying to teach adjustment comes with conversations about pace/speed of your delivery (how fast are you going from set stance to release and follow through). Can you control how fast you deliver a bowl and is it smooth and steady? It can get compounded by pace of green, length of green (if not regulation) and other factors. So start with one aspect -- like slowing or speeding up your delivery to hit the same length over and over, then move to adding in adjustments like shorter and longer. I'll have to work on making a series on this topic for the channel.
