Isotretinoin (called Accutane or Roaccutane) is the treatment of choice for those who have severe acne and have failed to respond to conventional topical treatments or oral antibiotics. Isotretinoin has a chemical structure similar to Vitamin A and therefore using Vitamin A may be a useful alternative to treat conditions that may require Isotretinoin. In this review, we look at a recent publication, which suggests that Vitamin A may be effective in the management of acne. The dosage and side effects are also reviewed.
