Hello I love your reactions. I'm a DEAR from Australia and have been following Dimash for a few years since he was on The Singer. You skipped a few great songs of his though like ALL BY MYSELF, ADAGIO AND THE SHOW MUST GO ON. I heard that a member of Queen said that Dimash did a great version of it. To me Dimash is the best singer in the world and many others would agree.

Great reaction - really enjoyed this. Check out the version of this song he did in the singer competition. As you see every note with this guy is calculated and if you watch the singer version you will see he cups his ear to hit the note but nothing comes out, so immediately he flips over to something operatic still sounding amazing. You could completely miss it is how good this guy is and at Gakku when he waved the mic and nothing came out, somehow he just knows that it was not going to do what he wanted but then hits it straight after. He has been working on that whistle not for a while and I have put a link here for it. That note isn't on any piano. Everyone says it's a D8 which all the coaches that I've listened to say it's not on any keyboard. I'd recommend one of two songs next. Either Sinful Passion or Ogni Pietra. Cheers, Steve

Dimash usually hits a F7 -> G7 on this song, but for some reason he could not transition from his falsetto to whistle in time. So, he just got stubborn and decided to hit this C8 -> D8 phrase instead. I think this has the record for highest note on a live performed song (people have hit higher notes, but not while singing). There are plenty of videos showing Dimash singing in the F7 and G7 whistles on a several occasions, so this was definitely live. I highly recommend "Sinful Passion". It's one of his greatest performances, he is doing a couple of really crazy stuff (no whistle notes there). It's like he implements 10 different singing lessons in one song.

@@thiagorique8954 It wasn't an accident. He usually does that. The fact that he "failed" to hit that F7-G7 had nothing to do with the C8 -> D8 afterwards. Dimash is well known for his range and even though he doesn't often go into his whistle tone doesn't mean he's not able to do so at will. It takes so much skill and training, besides his natural gift in music and voice. If you check out the video someone made of a compilation of all of Dimash's range, you'll see that he can hit pretty high whistle notes and pretty low growl notes. He's such a versatile singer, is just mindblowing.

Highest note sung live by a male, that's not just a squeak it's not on the piano, don't think he even knew he was going to do that 🤩 he has been on a world solo concert tour, just him for almost 3 hours but he has his band, backing singers, dancers and the whole shebang, but on stage, its only him we are watching 😍🥰😘

That note was a D8! Beyond the piano. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💕💕💕💕 What blows my mind each time I watch this clip is: how does Dimash still sing with a “normal”(for him) voice after that? How come his throat has not been destroyed? By the way, Unforgettable Day was composed by Dimash himself when he was just 17. My humble suggestion for your next Dimash reaction is something that showcases his lower range as well, or a completely different style. Do maybe “Across Endless Dimensions” or “Love Is Like a Dream”, for the former. And “Screaming” (make sure it’s the live version at Idol Hits), or maybe Hello (the Lionel Richie version). Thank you! 👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️/ from Dimash USA Fan Club 🇺🇸

Love your ears and how you think of things as simultaneously technical and musical - the gestures are similar. Thank you for pointing out the typical "sing and drop off the last note" or "drive (even a little) on ascending leaps"that is prevalent. I'm a classical vocal coach, and for me the #1 problem I see over and over is drive ascending intervals (even a 3rd), w loss of air / support balance (which is also laryngeal function) or air restriction, its also negative flip side; likewise, it's habitual to ignore descents, often completely changing support , pharynx/palate space, usually w a darker, breathy, flabby vowel. Dimash is always 'humming, w even balance of breath, free to adjust, everything working with his imagination and musical ideas. That's how he gets out of tricky spots that would kill others. Also, I think at the spot you noted him putting more vibrato directly on the note, he's kneeling and more focused on fan interaction. The straight onset takes more calm, and I think he's not trying to make points here...I sense a little autopilot (tho attractive) b/c he's really going to go for it later. As you suspected in the next sentence! BTW I notice/love his use of the global sob to get out of tenser climaxes (the place you commented on his vibrato when standing) -a classic Italian tenor move - part of his commitment to and onset/offset/duration variety + flexibility.

Been organizing all the D8 reactions, and from what I gather from some of the experts, including opera singers, information that may explain what Dimash was doing for the high whistle. You need a lot of air pressure to even start that whistle. In the steps, he makes some initial notes at full volume and then the sound disappears. I think he was going for that whistle but not enough air pressure to get it started and that is when the voice disappears. Then the opera singers have said that when they are going for higher notes, they sometimes have to move their neck around to relax either the vocal chords or neck muscles just before the high note. Dimash does that right after the silence and takes a deep breath too. That's when he is able to initiate enough air and relaxed to go for the whistle. One of the reactors has to use his full size piano and an app that determines frequencies to figure out that whistle. Can view these reactions at the bottom of Dimash's tribute page I have for him. Not formatted for cell phones but can view on cell phones in desktop mode. Link here, www.genobondo.com/dimash-kudaibergen-in-the-spotlight.html .

From The Gakku (gah-coo) Festival in Almaty, Kazakstan. Gakku is the music channel in the country, drawn from the name of the heartbreaking aria first sung by Kazakstan’s greatest opera singer, Kulyash Bayseitova, in Yevgeny Brusilovsky’s epic Kazakh opera, Abay (1944). Bayseitova said she would lose a year of her life every time she sang Gakku. The audience was left in tears at the premiere of the opera in Moscow. Thanks for your wonderful analysis and reaction. I have always loved music, any genre, classical, pop, country, jazz, and folk. But after finding Dimash, this amazing young man, I have come to realize I never really LISTEN to a the actual music that was being performed. But Dimash has changed all that, I now hear and feel every note, from his famous belts to the softest whisper that he sings. To me he is, and always will be my favorite, but when I do listen to other singers I have learned to appreciate what Dimash has taught me and I now really listen to the music that is being performed. Please continue to listen to more performances by this amazing young man. I promise you will not be disappointed. 🎼🎶🎤❤️🇺🇸🙋🏻♀️

I know nothing about music, but I've seen other vocal coaches reacting to to this song and most of them said that this was a "D8" note (I have absolutely no idea about what this means) and they said that this was "off the piano" (and I have absolutely no idea about what this means too). There where few of them that seemed not to agree with this "D8" evaluation but they were unable to give an alternative. In one video they wrote that there were two different notes, that is it started with a "C8" and then, after a while, it became a "D8" and ended as a "D8" (obviously I can't neither confirm nor deny).

D8 means the D note in the 8th octave. Each octave has 8 full tones and 5 semi-tones, if I'm not mistaken. Hope this helps. His current range is F1 to D8, so from the first octave to the eighth. A piano has 88 keys (seven octaves plus a minus third up to C8) so when the vocal coaches say he's off the piano, they REALLY mean he's off the piano lolol

almost every modern piano have 88 keys 52 white and 36 black that is from A0 to C8 but D8 is one note higher than C8 so you cant hit a D8 on a piano.
@prodigypenn

D refers to the specific note he is singing, the 8 refers to the 8th octave, there is no D8 on a piano as people have said, (it's been a long time so I don't really remember) so he hit a note that was higher than the highest note on a piano.

@@prodigypenn I think it's B7 or C8. Not sure, but I just came across a new piano that has 9 octaves lololol It's called The Big Beleura
