Killer demo of the VOX ToneLab LE modeling floor processor featuring Austin, TX guitarist David Spann. Wow. Killer playing, great sounds, cool gear. And it's all recorded direct!
I was in the studio when this was filmed. It was all recorded in one take... the backing track was played into one channel while David played along to it. It all went down live and we just took a direct line out of the TonelabLE. Amazing.

Superior !? Not today but 15 years ago it was for sure. Today we have Headrush pedal board, line ⁶ helix, Neural and Kemper just to name a few of the big dogs ! I had the Vox biggest pedal board and or was great but today the only thing that sounded good to me was the greatest Headrush pedal board and I got it way cheap before the COVID Nwo price hike.

Hey guys, Just wanted to respond to the debte over whether the SE or LE sounds better, here are a couple things to consider. The LE is 24 bit...the SE is 20 bit. Also, the SE is now discontinued in the US. So, if you love that unit, get one while you can. Other than that, the LE is really no different in terms of sound engine (and quality) compared to the SE...in fact, the expanded line out features make it more customizable when interfacing with amps or live PA's.

Hello! One of the cool new features of the TonelabLE is expanded amp/line out features. Of note, it has three different amp out modes voiced for use with VOX, "Black 2x12" type combos, and "UK Stack" amps. You can either use one of those modes to match the TonelabLE to an amp from those three major brands OR you can bypass the TonelabLE's amp modeling all together if you'd just like to use all its effects with your favorite amp of choice.

Keep in mind this is recorded direct into a mini-mixer and then into a video camera, then compressed on KZitem. There's a modeled live console EQ you can access to fatten the unit up as much as you care to. It's a big plus that the previous Tonelabs didn't have.

@Hertsman50 I agree. Having used a variety of amps and processed amp boards, i'm more inclined to go with a very simple Fender Twin, a few pedals, and that's about it. I did, however, get this to sound decently by going into a keyboard amp and turning the VR down to about 2 - 3.5 on most of the saved settings. But yeah, an actual tube amp is the way to go, in my opinion.

Thanks for posting this. I've read all the reviews, but seeing is believing. I'm contemplating either upgrading my pedals but this is definately more bang for the buck. Heck, just the pedal board, a Boss gigadelay & Digitech Brian May pedal is nearly $600, & that's what I've been looking at. This might have sealed the deal.

I tried out the Tonelab and fell in love with it instantly. I bought it and i've been messing around with it for only a couple of days. Now, I can get mind-blowing clean sounds out of it but when it comes to crunch and distortion i find it harder to find nice settings. Either, the tone is too dark or its too "middy". Any suggestions? Btw, ive got a gibson lp 50 and a torque amp ;)

I think your playing was killer, and the unit sounds great. I love my SE, and may have to upgrade eventually. Just depends on whether there's a noticable improvement in the sounds; it's kind of hard to imagine, since my toy has such killer sounds.

I bought this tonelab, and i'm using it with a Marshall MG 100 half stack. The problem is, is that when i plug both into my guitar, the great sound of the amp kinda gets muffled, or it dosen't sound as good with the tonelab (pinch harmonics don't sound good, ect). i was wondering if this was a good combination of products or if i should try something else?

I'm curiuos; have you compared the LE to the SE? I'm kind of partial to the two expression pedals in my SE, but I may have to upgrade if the sounds are much better; plus I like the smaller footprint.

@gummyform Pretty close, you do plug your guitar chord from you guitar to the unit, but after that you need speakers of some sort. The best thing to use, i have found, is a keyboard amp with the treble and bass set evenly - that way, you are only getting the sound of the effect unit. You can, however, plug a pair of headphones if you just want to practice.

I have played one of these. It really is a great product, but I struggled to get a BM tone I could stand. If you want BM tone I would go with a tube amp, and a Treble boost over anything modeling. I was more satisfied with a Epiphone Valve Junior and a Treble boost than anything I found on this. The good thing about this is ALL (and I mean ALL) the other great tones you can get out of it.
