Brian May always cracked me up, because he would play these crazy, intricate solos while making a face like "did I leave the stove on?" 🤣

I met Rory Gallagher in Tower Records, Kensington High Street, London in the nineties. I was looking through the Blues Records rack, when I looked up to see Rory looking through the rack on the other side. I made eye contact with him and said “How are doing Rory?”. He replied “I’m fine thank you and how are you?” He died not long after. I will never forget it. I saw Rory three times in my life. Still fond memories of his live performances. He made a big impact on me and one of the greatest artists to pick up a guitar! Dave you definitely capture the Rory sound.

I have a friend who saw a guy about to chuck an old AC30 in a skip. He bought it off the guy for £40. My friend has always been a Vox guy and also uses a sixpence (only the Elizabeth II years - the others are slightly different in composition apparently) while using his trusty ol Strat. He is now a professional session musician and had the chance to back Brian at a charity event, and he even let my friend have a play on the Red Special, which was a special moment for my friend. The old Vox turned out to be from 1964 and I used it for a few years when I was in a band with him. Sorry for the length of my comment, just had to post it due to the nature of Dave's video.

The Treble Booster is a very simple circuit with an unusually low input impedance (12KΩ ish).. but that 'design flaw' is what makes the sound so special. I'm going to build one on my channel.

Always loved the story of Brains sound origins. Both the confidence/absolute naieve, genuine curiosity and desire to discover from Brian, and the gracious humility of Gallagher to not just appease a kid who was presumably unknown at the time, but to be open and honest about his own personal discoveries in his rig set up. It's a great lesson in etiquette and how to behave generally as a musician, especially around younger/aspiring musicians!

What a great sound mate, I have to tell you, that I'm 82, still playing and deaf, so your little trickle of sound was perfect

I love how you kept slipping into Rory’s style even in the part that was about Brian May. It was so funny, great tone.

You Tube: Rory Gallagher “Walk on Hot Coals” Madrid 1975. I implore everyone to watch this performance by Rory and especially the extended guitar solo - all with just an amp, Rangemaster and Strat - absolutely breathtaking. Never tire of watching it. Highly recommended and thank you Dave for highlighting was a brilliant guitarist Rory was.

I've been watching you for about 4 years and that is hands down the best tone you've had (IMO). Please make that Vox and TB a standard in your rig. Jim

That is freaking amazing how squeaky-clean and thick and dirty you can get from those amps just with the volume knob.
