Damn, Todd kept his cool much longer than most people would. He got cut off 10+ times and managed not to take his headset off and walk away. Great discussion, though I think Todd has the most complete view of how the game should go. EDIT: I think the "but these other degenerate decks have hate cards" is weak simply because Twin hate is the most fair hate, removal.

What I learnt from this video: - An insightful look into why Splintertwins should remain banned, with a clear distinction that differs Twins from other turn 3 kill decks, which was a nice look into the deck from people who aren't pseudo-pros who just say "i died turn 3 to storm, why is Splintertwins even still banned." - SFM is banned cause it might be strong, maybe, idk, was wrong about bitterblossom and Jace, lets keep it banned. My DnT soul weeps.

i really enjoyed the modern discussion. my idea would be to make a versus series where u build a stoneforge mystic or twin deck in modern just to try it out. i know that would be a very very small sample size but i think it would be very interesting to see

I don't belive that modern it's a format where u win or lose in turn 4, but definitly it's decided who it's the mostly like o win at that time. For example, you don't loose to a dredge, humans, spirits, coco deks, storm, etc.. by turn 4, but if you can't deal with the threats at that point, or miss removal or a land drop o wharever, you may survive a cuple of turns, but at turn 4 the game it's mostly decided, and that's not a lie.

I agree with Ross and Brad to NOT unban twin, maybe unban stoneforge. But i agree with Todd that just because a deck is a low percentage and is not seeing play, doesnt mean it shouldn't be banned. Tron has ruled from the shadows since twin got banned, and it's depressing that such a deck exists; only lantern control is worse. Kci is also a powerhouse that REGULARLY WINS turn 4 even WITH interraction, and moderatly wins on turn 3; A deck that absolutely deserves the ban hammer. Then there is the hardened scales affinity which can also explode into your face pretty easily, and all of these bombs have ancient stirrings in common; cue the idiots defending ancient stirrings. Alltogether some decks deserve the ban hammer despite the constant meta change and tron and kci are the first on this list. Twin should def not be unbanned because we can salute format diversity immediatelly and stoneforge has plenty of potential to warp the format.

Splinter twin was stupidly broken and I never want to see it coming back. having like 3/5 matches all be vs twin in a single night of magic and losing all 3 games because their deck is completely broken was a horrible experience. You should NOT get to dictate exactly what your opponent can do and then also force them to constantly leave mana untapped out of fear of you randomly instantly winning the game. Now just ban ancient stirrings and faithless looting already. Also I can see stoneforge getting unbanned. I don't really* think it's too good, but it would be very good. It would create a few new interesting deck archetypes.

When Grixis Shadow was big in Modern, my LGS had a ton of players who played it, so I built BR Devotion and I just rolled over the deck, made a lot of money from that.

One question Today we have 2 UR combo/control decks: kiki jiki and breach. Are they so different from twin? Playing against breach we have the same problem: after turn 5 you can't do anything cuz you must hold mana to don't lose.

First, Topor Orb, Pithing Needle, Phyrexian Revoker. Second, Golgari Grave Troll didn't make Dredge great again it was Cathartic Reunion and Insolent Neonate.
@TandyMTG

Considering Neonate doesn't see play anymore makes me think it was never all that good in the first place. IMO Troll was a problem, but Faithless Looting is still the best enabler ever.

tbh I think modern was a much more fun format with twin. I never played twin before it was banned, I hated it back then. Modern has mostly lost its charm to me since then. I played Grixis Delver after the ban of cruise and dig (when I got back into magic and into modern, around FRF or DTK). I loved that format because midrange decks were very powerful as was twin, and most of the decks were very interactive because they had to be to deal with twin, but there were still many other viable decks and archetypes. Sure, control wasn't in the best spot, but Jeskai was still a good deck.

If you unban stoneforge they just have to be super careful with the design of any equipment going forward.

@HeadMinerve

@@TandyMTG The equipment type seems to be on a censor list since years, Maro stated last month they can't really design other Swords of X&Y cause of power level, so there's no chance they print even stronger equipments (besides a blunder). So the "careful" argument doesn't stand for SFM's current ban. The argument that SFM would be "splashed in many different archetypes" is hard to defend as well, since we could say the same for Coco, Stirrings, etc. Oh wait it also includes cards they print nowadays ! Besides GGT because of a blunder set a few months after its unbanning (but otherwise its immediate unban was not format-breaking), all those scary cards that were unbanned eventually showed to be ok in Modern. Patience will free SFM, Wizards always made the right call when they unbanned a card in Modern.
