このBobbyさんの意見とてもよくわかります!!私はアメリカに留学しに来ているのですが、How long have you been here?

I love comedy japan😊👍
I think the "where are you from?" is a good question, but changed into "where are you from originally?", because there's a chance the person was actually born in Japan; after that, the "how long have you been in Japan?" is also important, as they might have been in Japan for ages, all their life, even. Those 2 add up info that that will completely change the following conversation.
Aww your twins are so cute & adorable!! Congratulations!!

I think that is a very good question to ask seemingly foreigners. I would have much rather appreciated someone asking me how long have you been in Japan than where are you from? Also, answering that question invites a lot of questions so that the conversation can flow smoothly like you said.
Oh yeah, that makes sense to me. In fact, I wasn't so sure what to ask foreigners I've not met before at the beginning. Besides, probably many Japanese people including me aren't sure which question's appropriate for foreigners in Japan. By the way, personally the sentence "Do you have something you want to know (about Japan or something)?" is appropriate & effective especially after asking "How long have you been in Japan?". Anyway, thank you so much for sharing a great international tip. That's so useful to me.

+Takehiko Mori I didn't say this in the video because it would be too long, but your second question, "Do you have something you want to know about Japan?" is a good question for tourists or people who are new to Japan. If you asked that question to some who has been here 20 years, they would probably think it was weird. Foreigners who have lived here long term usually don't want Japanese people to try to introduce Japan to them. They might not need or want help experiencing Japanese culture, because they might feel that they're already familiar with it, or even that parts of it have become their own culture.

U give us so good information. That's helpful for us. Congratulations for ur babies btw :D
アドバイスっていうより頼みに聞こえるね。何年間も日本に住んできた住民だから、初対面で観光客の前提から話しかけられたくない気持ちわかるけど、それは仕方ないでしょう。ほとんどの外国人は観光客なんだから. when i was studying abroad in japan, I had to deal with a similar situation where people always assumed I didn't know any japanese and always responded in broken english.
#bobbyjudo Why do you speak Japanese so well? You were created in japan? Studies and works with the language? It's perfect you talking. Hugs from Brazil.
+bobbyjudo since you've been living in Japan for 11 years already, has your English gotten rusty? I'd like to hear you fully speak in English. I don't know if you've been concerned about such linguistic matter, unless, of course, you happen to still speak a lot of English despite living in Japan.
It's a kind of funny question from me, a "native" Japanese boy, but I'm just curious about how to pronounce を correctly. Have you learned like "wo" and slightly different from ”お” ? Actually, I pronounce it like "o" just same as "お”, but my friend mentioned mine was not correct. What do you think??? I think I'm from country side of Japan, and have strong dialects, that's why mine is different from others. In addition, people from my hometown, including me, call を "くっつきの を”, means connecting を or something. That's literally strange, I know, but I'm just curious how did you or foreign people learn??

+Yuma Kikuchi I just learned by copying the way Japanese people around me pronounced it! Most people I hear say "wo." Thanks for your question.

The question I hate the most is... Samukunai? In like november. I know many foreigners who where short sleeve around that time. and the average body temp for Japanese is lower... so I guess they feel colder. being concerned is fine, but the same people ask year after year, no matter how I explain it. most people are compelled to ask it. and it is hard to resist it seems. I got a video about it comin out 2mrrow!
